502Flavors (617), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Jul 27, 2008 bomber into sniffer. Great dark, hazzy copper/orange pour with a big creamy off-white head with a bit of a copper/orange tint. The fine carbonation bibles provide for great lace. Very rich and heavy aroma of citrus and pine hops coupled with a heavy doughy/caramel malt character. It almost smells more like an American barley wine than a IIPA. The flavor is perfectly balanced with doughy pale malt upfront, and a great juicy citrus (orange and grapefruit) character lingering behind, which works great with the malt. There is very little to no alcohol flavor and a nice resiny hop finish. This brew is hoppy, but not insanely so, yet it seems to have a perfect balance between flavoring and bittering hops. Creamy and coating on the palate with fine carbonation. Medium to heavy body - warming on the stomach. Overall: really a stunning brew. There is not much else to say. CaryTheDude (1113), Longmont, Colorado, USA Jul 27, 2008 Thanks to Honkeybra for introducing me to Binny’s. This is about it as far as Double IPAs. I guess I can die happy now. douglas88 (1557), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Jul 16, 2008 Bomber thanks to EithCubes. Pours a cloudy orange color with a medium white head. The aroma is tons of grapefruit, some rich malts, and honey. The flavor of this is like a freshly cut grapefruit covered in honey with a side of fresh fruit. Some woody aspects too. A thick and creamy mouthfeel. There is a ton of flavor here, sweet and bitter, but very smooth, not notice of alcohol expect a nice warmth in the finish. Just amazing. Swolf3 (252), Elkton, Maryland, USA Jul 14, 2008 Thanks to boss man Gabe, I got to enjoy this delicious double IPA. Taste is very hoppy with a citrus aroma. Pours a nice orange or amber color. enjoyed very much! TikiE (360), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Jul 13, 2008 Bottled: Carried this guy all the way back to North Carolina! Delcious beer! Pours a hazy orange color with white lacing. Smells of fruit, mostly mango. Taste of hops and citrus. One of my favorite double IPAs! Collint (452), Sylva, North Carolina, USA Jul 13, 2008 Bottle, thanks TikiE for driving the long distance for this very special beer. Pours an orange beer with a thin white head. Aroma is grapefruit hoppy insanity. Flavor is sweet and extremely hoppy with grapefruit notes. Full body with a bite in the end, bitter finish. Great beer! stateofbeing (1), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA does not count Jul 12, 2008 No pretentious description here, just two words for hop lovers: religious experience!
Nevertheless, this amazing beer is in short supply even in its home state of Indiana and (apparently) therefore, way overpriced at typically $14 for a single 20oz. bottle. Give me a break!!! browner (34), Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, USA Jul 12, 2008 Big and crazy IPA. Very pronounced floral aroma, hop heaven, almost sweet. Beautious orange/amber pour with a head that stands up a while but lacey and will not tickle your nose. A great finish of citrus and pretty clean as well. Excellent presentation of an Imperial IPA and one that should satisfy any hop head.
