maniac4016 (114), bill clinton, Iceland Jul 11, 2008 a little unbalanced but still a nice brew, pineapple/ citrus on nosing & powerful hop flavor through long finish, good but over priced. wish their label designer would share his stash daknole (2802), Plantation, Florida, USA Jul 5, 2008 Updated: Feb 11, 2009Bottle shared with soicanbreathe and WHAT A BOTTLE...oh my! Perfect amber pour, cloudy and delicious. Aromas of malt, floral and sweet hops and mango. Flavor is sweet and malty with such wonderful hops. Holy shit I think I found a beer better than Bells Two Hearted. Amazing. Someone hook me up with another bottle! ASAP! ezyeric (7), Comstock Park, Michigan, USA does not count Jul 3, 2008 22oz bottle, Extreme floral and citrus hops aroma, about a finger of head typical IPA golden brown/orange color. Flavor starts off light and then kicks in to extreme mango/citrus and caramel flavors and the aftertaste on the tounge is extreme bitterness and some alcohol. Its almost like the bitter hops and alcohol are fighting to be the last flavor. Comparable to Hopmouth and it was better on tap. Kalli (474), Falun, Sweden Jul 2, 2008 A light shadde of amber with little but lasting head and a bit of lace. Nose has a bit of resin and spicy peach.
First sip is not as much a surprise as a friendly slap in the face. More multifaceted than I’m used to in IPAs and quite different. First I think it has roastiness but then I think it’s more like spiciness. From a spicy curry! Not entirely sure what spice exactly but perhaps coriander seeds (at first my girlfriend suggest coriander but then she’s certain it’s cardamom).
Mellows out a bit as I get used to it. A fruity resiny tang sticks with it though and the flavour stays fairly robust and it’s much fuller than I tend to think of IPAs. In a very good way. And it’s not really malty; it’s more like mouthfeel through hops, some more hops and then a metric crapassload of hops.
It doesn’t feel that bitter on the finish. Well... "that" is relative, of course, but the alcohol is noticable in a warming effect as it goes down. Very pleasant and a contender for my top IPA. Easily.
Thanks to theisti for this one! laguerita (111), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jun 29, 2008 holy crap this stuff is awesome. if you love hops- i love hops- dreadnaught is for you. a bit of fruitiness to balance. but this is an awesomely hoppy palate-killer. love it. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA Jun 23, 2008 bottle. (notes) Nice golden amber color. Pours a small head that clears pretty quick, leaving a light ring. Loads of hops on the nose with lots of citrus and pine resin, with some booze notes as well. Flavors of aggressive citrus hops all over the place with a heavy, sharp bitterness. Grainy sweet malt notes provide some good balance. Booze evident in the flavor, but not distractingly so. A bit oily and boozy on the palate. dkachur (2316), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jun 21, 2008 Updated: Sep 23, 2008Bottle courtesy of CaptainCougar. Thanks! Aged bottle... 01/05 handwritten on the bottle. Hazy orange-red pour with a small quickly disappearing head. Citrus and floral hop aroma with a big malt background.
