Commercial Description:
A hophead’s dream beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale has an opening salvo of mango, peach and citrus hop aromas that sit atop a pronounced caramel malt backbone. Although Dreadnaught is a strong and intensely hoppy ale, its complex flavors is both smooth and memorable. 9.5% ABV, 100 IBUs.

22 oz bomber courtesy of Ughsmash, thanks Jason! Drank at 55.4 degrees (courtesy of my little temp laser) Poured into a tulip glass with an hazy amber colour and a medium creamy off white head. Carbonation bubbles suck to the sides of the glass. Nose of grapefruit hops, dark fruits, sweet malts, and a touch of alcohol. Initial taste of light tingly bubbles over the tounge touched with a velvetly sweet malts covering the mouth. Oily and slight chewy. Caramel malts begin to surface. Finising bitter hops and sweet malts on the palate. The balance of hops is good and doesnt outweigh the begining malts. Palate duration is warming and good. Some head retention and nice thick sheets of lacing. Medium body. Chalky finish. Very drinkable.

Second time I’ve had this, first at the Chris_O bash, then just this evening. Lovely IIPA. Malt and hop balance in the extreeeeeme. Yeah there are the heavy citrus/Pine and zesty notes - but they are together as one, rather than leaping like misguided springs. I love the oilyness - more a note that I’d expect from a RIS, weird, but in a good way.

Yeasty cashew and walnut aroma. Hazy copper color, floating sediments, and no head. There is a strong bitter flavor of orange, pine, and yeast. Pine needle finish. Full bodied, more than strong enough, decent balance, but not great tasting.

Probably one of the better IPAs out there. Nice bright orange, little head. Very nice floral smell, fruity. Good hoppy aftertaste. Left flavor on the tongue minutes after drinking.

Draft from Three Floyds Brewpub. Wonderful citrusy aroma, hop flavor and bitterness. Definitely going to drink when ever I can get it.

Bottle (MT) at ØLklubben (2006 edition). Clear golden - white head. High hoppy, peach, pepper, caramel, nice light sweetness, light soapy, light toasted. Fantastic.
