A hopheadís dream beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale has an opening salvo of mango, peach and citrus hop aromas that sit atop a pronounced caramel malt backbone. Although Dreadnaught is a strong and intensely hoppy ale, its complex flavors is both smooth and memorable. 9.5% ABV, 100 IBUs.

Bottle. Pours a golden brown with a thick foamy head. Tons of citrus hops aroma up front with just a bit of malt. Taste is lots of citrus hops, and a malty earthy balance. Palate is a bit thick and the alcohol is extremely well hidden. In my opinion well deserving of its high rating.

Wow. The aroma is so smooth, hoppy, with a tinge of citrus. Georgeous orangey amber, though a little week on head. Tastes like an imperial should, luscious hops, with a touch of sour fruitiness, and the bitter is so smooth and grows on the finish. Now I know why itís priced like wine. Well worth it. Yum!

Thanks to brad and his co-worker for this opportunity. Pours a hazy yellow with a frothy head. Aroma is very similar to the gumballhead. New shoe leather. Taste is. Balanced for 100 IBUs. Sweet with tropical and citrus notes. Good but not necessarily top 20. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Torpedo bottle. Thx Mike. Slightly hazy dark golden color. Generous head that stays. Aroma of tropical fruits and fresh hops. Some mango taste with pineapple notes and caramel backbone. Creamy texture. Smooth bitter finish. Very nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bomber from Mikkeller webshop. Pours a clear amber with a big, white head that leaves a nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is grapefruit, pine, mango, caramel malt, citrus, peach, boozy and sweet. Taste is mango, peach, citrus, pine, caramel. Perfect balance between malt and hops, the caramel, bready malty backbone balanced up by the hop bitterness. Was a harsh bitterness 30 mins out of the fridge but as it warmed up it mellowed out and sits in a perfect balance. Medium to full bodied. This is truly a well done DIPA.

So this is unbelievable. Totally worth the hype. Havenít had too many ipas that are so high in alcohol and so smooth. Aromas are pine, tropical fruit. Flavors are mango, dank pine. Sour tropical fruit finish. Unreal.

Peach, pineapple, sweet grapefruit, lovely bready malt backbone. Another awesome fruity hop-bomb from this outstanding brewery, dangerously high drinkability :)

0.65 l bottle from Mikkeller Webshop. Dark golden to amber, slightly hazy body, with a medium, creamy, rocky, slightly beige head, that leaves a lot of lacing. Amazing aroma, resin, grapefruit, tropical fruits, honey and caramel like malts and the pine notes are as specific as a walk in a pine forest with needles on the ground! Taste follows this exactly. Mouthfeel is medium, slick, with a medium carbonation and it finishes long, bitter, dry, slightly alcoholic, but still smooth, with pine, resin and lemon zest. Propably the most interesting and specific pine aromas in an IPA Iíve experienced so far! And still there is a lot more, complex fruit notes and a perfect malt backbone, all in an amazing balance! Indeed a world class DIPA, that deserves the hype.

Strapping bouquet; burst out upon popping the cap. Pours amber with thick but small white head. Buckets of grapefruit, tropical fruit, orange. Stock sweet-caramel malt competes admirably. Nothing unusual but phenomenally strong and certainly inviting. The taste is more malt driven (perhaps due to bottle being 10 weeks old). Caramel, toffee and a little honey lead the way. Some light hop presence in middle palate. Sweet tropical fruit before a moderate fruity-hop bitterness. Notably smooth and bereft of any alcohol presence. Complexity and balance are not priorities. But for a malt-driven bold DIPA, its phenomenal.
