COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A hophead’s dream beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale has an opening salvo of mango, peach and citrus hop aromas that sit atop a pronounced caramel malt backbone. Although Dreadnaught is a strong and intensely hoppy ale, its complex flavors is both smooth and memorable. 9.5% ABV, 100 IBUs.

2012-05-14, draught at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen, 9% ABV, 8-5-8-4-17=42
Hazy light amber color, with giant creamy head. Very nice hop aroma, deep, fruity, lemony, but also a bit cheesy and feety; then followed by oranges and pine needles. The mouthfeel is round and soft, undercarbonated, but the body is not as thick as other IIPAs (fortunately), therefore it’s more drinkable; strong caramel and toffee flavor, with strong hopping; powerful bitterness, yet quite balanced, evident resins, but not lacerating.
I miss some more freshness and fruitiness in the final, but it’s a very well constructed beer.
At 50kr (8.65$) for 20cl, a couple of middle med are buying a Ferrari with this money.

Copper color. Very nice hop aroma, with fruits (oranges, curaçao). Oily and malty, good but less interesting than other examples; strong final, aromatic, less long than others. Thanks Jeppe (Bierkönig) for sharing this bottle.

Bottle, 22oz. (RBNAG 07) Pours an orange-golden, almost clear pour with an off-white to beige head. It sure has a hop-dominated aroma, fruity, tropical fruits and citrus, pine and resin, with a heavy maltyness in the supporting role. Nice flavor too, fruity, piney, malty, quite sweet and sure bitter. Fruity, piney, bitter finish as well. Full body. Loved this IIPA, beautiful mix of hops and malt. (071103)

Golden amber color, not much head. Very strong aroma of blackcurrant leaves. Medium to full bodied. Aggressive sweet honeyish hoppyness, some blackcurrant also in the flavor. Unbalanced, not my cup of tea.

Bright copper amber; large hop aroma - mint, grapefruit. Chewy and bitter palate - toffeeish malts and citrusy hops, sugar tarts, leaves. Chewy hops resonate in the lingering finish.

Draft at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2014, Session 3. Pours clear gold with a fluffy, off-white head. Rich citrus on the nose, nice and dank, with tangerine and suggestions of anise. Medium to big sweet flavor with pale bread, sticky ripe citrus, pine needles, grapefruit, lemon. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Lightly warming to finish, with sticky and resinous hops, lots of ripe, gooey citrus fruits. Solid. A ballsy beer, but still damn drinkable.
