A hophead’s dream beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale has an opening salvo of mango, peach and citrus hop aromas that sit atop a pronounced caramel malt backbone. Although Dreadnaught is a strong and intensely hoppy ale, its complex flavors is both smooth and memorable. 9.5% ABV, 100 IBUs.

A - Super clear amber body with 2 fingers of moundy eggshell cream. The head slowly sinks into a thin cap with nice lacing patterns. S - Loads of juicy stone and tropical fruits. Apricots, peaches, lychee, mango, papaya, candied citrus, pine, doughy sweet bread. T - Just an onslaught of tropical and stone fruit. Papaya, peach, and lychee seem to dominate. Candied citrus, mango. A soft caramel malt backbone marries perfectly with the hops. Green pine seems to grab onto the edges of the tongue creating a slow build of bitterness that carries through the finish. The finish is more pine/grapefruit forward and dries out nicely. M - Thick dense body, low to medium creamy carbonation. Dry finish. Juicy would be one word to describe this beer. A very complex mix of aromas. Dreadnaught seems to be more dedicated to the aroma and flavoring hops while still providing an impressive bitter finish. This reminds me of a hoppier Maharaja. Wish I would have picked up more. Aroma is tropical fruits, citrus, pine, and slight hint of berries. Flavor is a fruit explosion with a pine finish. Finishes slightly bitter but both malt and bitter even out at the end. Amazing! Best double IPA!

Bottle. Nice amber body with white head. I think the bottle is a little bit to old so there is missing a lot of the aroma. Otherwise a perfect beer wonderful balanced between hops and malts. You don’t notice the malts and the Ibus. Even its more than 3 months old a great one.

Bottle@home celebrating a new weekend. Amber haze. One finger foam. Dusty passionsfruit pine notes. Intens resinous piny taste. Sweet well hiding in a moderate bitterness. Very dry bitter finish. Heavy body. Probably the most expensive brew bought so far 225 Danish kroner. It's good but that good!!!

So big and so good. Tons of complex hop aroma from pepper to mango. Flavor is an intense resin awesomeness. Really did well on carbonation and malt backbone with slight alcohol warmth makes this a perfect brew

Bottle. Pours an ever so slightly hazy golden with a big off white head. Aroma is tremendous, with sweet hoppy apricots and soft tropical mango, as well as elderflowers, lychee and bittering orange peel. Medium to full body with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet hops with apricots and mango, bitter orange peel and pine, as well as a nice malt back with toffee. Bitter finish with grapefruit and resin. A fantastic brew! Subtle and easy drinking, yet hoppy and aggressive. Probably the best DIPA ever, and definitely worth the hype!

Poured from a 22 oz bomber from FFF brewpub, bottled about 9 days ago, served in a spiegelau IPA glass Aroma: HUGE nose of tropical fruits, mango, pineapple, and grapefruit. Appearance: Pours a very pretty orange-copper with good clarity, nice fluffy white head that dies down and leaves lacing along the sides of the glass. Great-looking beer. Taste: Follows the nose, massive waves of tropical fruit, peach, and a little citrus hop with a little malt backbone. A little bitterness left behind on the finish. Palate: Pleasant average carbonation, body is medium but so, so drinkable for such a big IPA. Overall: One of my favorite beers, period. I’m a sucker for tropical hop profiles and this I just love. It’s unbelievably drinkable for such a big beer. It’d be wonderful to have everyday access.

Tap @ Mikkeller Bar Stockholm

A – Slightly hazy light orange

S – slightly hoppy but, more so towards balanced. Pine, grapefruit and stone fruits.

T – Malt body ’just’ being there, citrus driven pale ale, again, it’s not to an extreme, at all, very balanced out citrus character

M – Light, high carbonation level.

O – Expected way more, this is very much so not a top IPA, would like to try bottled, seeing as every single hoppy beer I’ve had at Mikkeller Bar has been an disappointment.

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
