COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A hophead’s dream beer. This Imperial India Pale Ale has an opening salvo of mango, peach and citrus hop aromas that sit atop a pronounced caramel malt backbone. Although Dreadnaught is a strong and intensely hoppy ale, its complex flavors is both smooth and memorable. 9.5% ABV, 100 IBUs.

Bottle: Light orange pour with a white frothy head. Sweet grapefruit and citrus rind in the aroma, a hint of booziness, and yet really smooth for an IPA. The spicy bitterness of the finish stays with you for an impressive length of time. Yum.

A lot of sweet carmel malts up front to match the nose. Then the hops remind you it’s a west coast brew times ten. Surprising amount of citrus. More sweet than sour, like pineapple and mango. The sweetness from the fruit is almost candy like. Still some classic pine flavor too. Solid bitter aftertaste. Big everywhere!

Bottle. Clear dark amber pour with dense lasting offwhite head. Aroma is sweet with lots of mango and peach. Notes of citrus as well. Taste is very well balanced. There is just enough sweetness and body from the malt to take on the hoppy bitterness but still keeping the freshness to it. You can still appreciate all the complex notes long after you have finished your sip. Quite low carbonation. Beautiful

22 oz bottle poured into a tulip. Bottled 10/31/2014. Slightly hazy orange with almost three fingers of off-white head. Aromas of citrus, floral, booze, caramel. Tastes of grapefruit citrus, a bit of booze, caramel, pine, resin. Medium body with a semi-dry finish.

Bomber to ipa glass. Brilliant orange hue with an off-white head that sticks. Aromatics are pungent and fresh with fruits like easy mango, pineapple, granny smith apple with some malty sugar and resinous bite. The taste is complex; citrus fruits abound with the hops coming in waves against the malty spine of this beer. I’m really impressed with this one. You have to get your hands on this ipa if you’re any type of ipa fan. Cheers to 3floyds!

Bottle to glass. Pours a deep golden to orange color with a nice off white head. Aroma is incredible, with big tropical fleshy fruit hops. Flavor brings out much of the same, but has a pretty strong bitterness to it as well. Long lingering tropical hop wallop in the finish. An extraordinary double IPA!

Wow what a brew. Mine was a little older then I would have liked at about 3 months. Wonderful copper orange in color with a nice white head. Good smelling and great tasting brew. Enjoy!

UPDATED: APR 5, 2015 Clearing the backlog - might as well follow up the Westvleteren 12 rating with a beer I liked even better. On tap at Mikkeller & Friends, Dec 2014. Orange/gold pour with a decent off-white head. Malty, orange, caramel, mango, grapefruit - whole fruit basket aroma. Taste is similar, caramel and all those fruits, bittterness comes through later. With the ridiculous amount and quality of beer they had on tap this was the one I came back to, just fantastic, as close to perfect as I’ve ever had

From bomber. Pours a hazy orange with a white head. Aroma is fruit and citrus. Taste is mango, citrus, fresh fruits. Medium oily mouthfeel. Lovely mango fruity flavor. Delicious.
