dpjuart (670), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 9, 2008 22 oz. bottle via trade with Ty. Shared with Naka, Nate and foureyedgeek. Pours Orange w/ amber hues. Hazy with a small, off-white, foamy head which dissipates to a thin ring. Nose is big and caramely w/ a faint resiny citrus aroma lurking around. Sweet caramel background with viscous, resiny and sticky floral and citrus hops. Almost tea-esque. I didn’t expect this to be as sweet as it is, almost too much malt. Complexity was there. Great beer overall, just not quite what I expected.
Oddefellowe (28), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 1, 2009 Translucent amber with a lasting cream colored head and thick lacing. Strong hops scent with mild floral notes. Hoppy nose with sour fruit notes. The hops mellows out while progressing through the beer. Awesome. stobbe74 (662), Denmark Nov 1, 2009 Bottle, 22 fl. oz. Pours a reddish golden beer with an offwhite head. The aroma is good hops. The flavor follows the nose with a lot of hops. The palate is good balanced and complex. Overall a fantastic beer. timbeer (45), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Oct 31, 2009 Bottle courtesy the kid - thanks man. Nice coppery coloring with a small head. A rich pine pitch aroma. Lots of hops well balanced with the caramel malt and a good amount of bitterness. Not as sweet as some of the DIPA’s that I’ve tasted - which is good by me. MatSciGuy (629), Rosemount, Minnesota, USA Oct 29, 2009 [Bottle] bonused to me by Beernbourbon, thanks! Pours a thick looking clear copper with a finger thick beige head that rapidly dissipates. Aroma is strong with resinous and piney hops, lots of caramel malt for the backbone, and some floral honey as well. Flavor has a strong hop presence up front and a bracing bitterness on the back end. The alcohol presence is strong and numbing. The finish is quite dry and is making things congeal in the back of my throat. Overall, the bitterness is just a little too coarse for my tastes. I love over the top hoppy DIPA’s, but there is just something too ungraceful about the brash bitterness to make this one as enjoyable as it could be. NDbeerdrinker (164), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Oct 27, 2009 Pours a deep amber color with a big head that sticks around for a while. The aroma is huge hops (sweet citrus). Hops hit big up front on the taste, but the caramel malts follow it up to balance it nicely. Mouthfeel is thick, but smooth. Just an incredible beer. Sammer (23), Plano, Texas, USA Oct 24, 2009 Three Floyd’s never disappoints, and this beer is no exception. Perfect blend of citrus hop taste (bitterness) combined with a slightly sweet mango fruit taste. Just a great, full bodied IPA. TheBeerOrg (1563), Kentucky, USA Oct 17, 2009 Sampled at GABF 2009 - Pours light golden, with a thin white head. Notes of intense citrus aromatics, grapefruit, pine, and tangerine. Full bodied with lively carbonation. Very nice. boamr (112), Pennsylvania, USA Oct 16, 2009 Bottle from StFun. Pours a golden amber with a fluffy white head. Has a strong citrus hop smell to it. Has a hoppy citrus pine taste up front with a nice smooth malt backround. Perfectly balanced.
