4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very cloudy/hazy pour. The nose is loaded with sweet banana, a bit of light clove and some lightly smoky phenolics. Very wheaty nose with a bit of soft spiciness. Fresh-tasting with a great balance of spice and malt. Yeast is quite expressive and there are some other light fruity aromatics on the back. I get just a touch of herbal hoppiness on the back of the palate as well. A zippy tartness toward the finish… it would be pretty easy to knock a few of these back.

[Tap] On tap at Local Option about a month ago. Pours a creamy light yellow color with a dense white cap. Nose is heavy on clove, spice, bubblegum and hints of banana. The taste is of weizen yeast, wheat malts and heavy clove. Some banana and light sour fruits in the finish. Pretty decent body for an American example of the style. Fine carbonation. I had high expectations of this brew. It was quite good, but I wouldn’t consider it a world class hefeweizen.

I love Hefe’s and FFF’s so I was excited to try this. It was no surprise that their take was a little different and had a lot of strength to it. The banana scent was a little lesser than some of the big Hefe’s, but the taste was stronger and more complex.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draft at the brewpub. After a long weekend of drinking, lunch here was more challenging than I would have wanted, so this was my only FFF beer of the day. Pours a hazy, dull orange color with a small white head that fades and leaves only a little ring. Notes of banana, clove, wheat, apricot, pears, honey, and a bit of tangerine citrus. Medium-bodied, with low carbonation and a fruity mouthfeel. Pretty straightforward hefeweizen; this weekend was eye-opening in that I found a few fairly straightforward beers from FFF for the first time ever. This brewery truly does it all.

Pours a hazy amber with a thin film of off-white head. Rich clove and spice aroma. A good, full flavored example with a rich sweetness and spicy character.

On tap at fff brewpub. Pours a hazy orange with nice frothy hefe head. An aroma of citrus and banana with a corn-esq undertone. Nice refreshing brew with big banana fruit and orange with a mildly tart finish. A nice start to the day.

3.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Aroma:Smells heavily of clove and banana.
Appearance:Cloudy pale orange, medium head retention, mild lacing.
Taste:The flavor is like the nose, heavy clove and banana. The mildly sweet flavor lingers on pleasantly through the aftertaste.
Palate:Nice carbonation, medium body.
Overall:This is a spot on hefeweizen, very typical of the style. It’s a good example of how Three Floyds isn’t a one-trick hop pony!
