Nephilium (424), Ohio, USA Jul 24, 2007 This starts with a wonderful piney aroma with hints of caramel lurking underneath. It pours a cloudy orange with just a dusting of white head on top. The taste of this is a nice big hop bomb. Slight sweetness in the front, almost candylike, then the hops come in to curbstomp your tongue. Thick syrupy mouthfeel, long bitter finish. I’d think this would be classed better as a DIPA. I am somewhat curious what would happen to this after aging for a while, since at present, it’s a big beautiful hop bomb. But this is a nice tasty beer to ring in rating # 200.
JK (2411), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Sep 3, 2008 From Badgerben. Moderate hops and malt, almost a west coast barleywine. Some fruit and sugar, fructose, peach. Sweet malt and very low carbonation. The high abv is well hidden, and it is not present in the aroma or the flavor. Bockyhorsey (1969), Mesa, Arizona, USA Aug 31, 2008 22oz bottle courtesy of CaptainCougar. Pine aromas stand out with some caramel. Murky orange body with off white head. Big caramel sugar malt backbone for flavor. Some citrus in the background. Smooth enjoyable brew on the palate good beer. hopdog (4568), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 29, 2008 22oz bottle shared courtesy of weeare138. Poured a medium orangish color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, citrus, and some pine. Tastes of caramel, citrus, and some fruitiness. For being over a year old, there was still some nice hop presence. Alcohol content well hidden. Guerde (478), Welcome, Minnesota, USA Aug 27, 2008 (bottle thanks Badgerben!) Pours dark gold with no head. Aroma is strong with citrus hop (mostly orange), and some floral honey. The taste is really sweet to begin with, featuring flavors of honey, caramel, that switches to a finish that possesses a light tea-like astringency. Medium bodied, not too bad. 502Flavors (230), Kentucky, USA Aug 25, 2008 bomber into pint glass for lack of sniffer/trappist glass. Dark hazy honey color with an off white big lasting head with a yellowish tint. Nice lace. Fresh aroma of hops, honey, caramel, and doughy malt - pretty tasty smelling. Crazy unique flavor: lots of resinous and citrus hops as well as caramel and dough malt characteristics and even some light fruit. Alcohol is hidden pretty damn well too. Pretty big and smooth on the palate with the perfect amount of carbonation. Overall: its pretty simple, this is another great FFF brew.
