COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American Wheat Beer brewed with red wheat and boat loads of amarillo hops gives this summer brew a lemony finish. The slight haze in the bottle is from the bottle-conditioning, where yeast is added to the bottle for a secondary fermentation. Gumballhead is a Skingraft Comics hero. Gold in color. Thin head that receded fairly quickly but lots of stringy lace. Aroma is all hops. Taste is more of the same, cut grass hops. But with a nice and sweet malt backbone to the beer to provide some balance.

Timothy O'Toole's Pub, Chicago, draft. No head. Light blond and clear. Thin taste of lemon zest. No aroma. Not for me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Aroma is hoppy with some bubblegum and soapiness. Very light and intriguing, taste is very light with prominent wheat features, quite earthy and lemony. Hops in taste is hardly there except a soapy feel, with a bitterness on end.

So, here I sit rating beer # 4000 and this is appropriate. I’ve been trying to taste this for years on end. Finally found on tap at the vintage, a great place fer sure. I was hoping for a well behaved wheat beer with bubble gum flavors but what I got was a well behaved slightly hoppy beer. Phil is a great business guy who knows what he’s doing. I was thinken this would be one great wheat beer but it turned out to be somewhat hoppy, surprisingly so. Pale yellah. Slight B/O aroma, what is it with these hoppy beers lately, not in to too much B/O unless its my favorite mate’s, heheh and even then I think of it as perfume. Good co2 keeps this stuff refreshing none the less, baby. Fun overall. But you can tell its made to please the hop heads round here, probably why it has such a good rating. Medium hop bitterness on the finish. For a hoppy beer, not bad by this lager lovers standards. Considering the hop effects from the start, not bad overall. Glad to have finally tasted this and on tap thanks to phil at vintage, YEAH!

Tasted from draft. Pours a clear gold with white head. Aroma is sweet grains, wheat and some lemon and citrus notes. Taste is very well balanced with moderate sweetness and medium bitterness. Nice clean citrus bitterness. Throughout. Definite get a lemony flavor with the wheat. Excellent for the style. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a lightly hazy yellow with a full white head. Aroma reminds men of new leather shoes. In a good way. Musky. Herbal. The taste is smooth and hoppy but not bitter with a refreshing lemony finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Thanks to Mike. Pours a clear golden color. Tropical/citrus hop aromas dominate the nose. Finishes very well. Medium light bitterness. Mostly an ipa beer. Very smooth, but hop packed beer. Tropical fruit notes from the fresh hops. Very nice.

Tap at original mikkeller. Pour is almost clear amber with a small White head. Lots of wheat fruityness and hops going on. Taste is more wheat up front, but is overall really fruity. A really easy drinking beer. Crisp, semi-High carb. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap in a pint glass at Kasey’s Tavern. Golden colored ale with minimal head. Lacing is average at best. Surprised this is referred to as a wheat. More citrus than most wheat options. Easy to drink and enjoyable. I would contend it’s a pale ale pretending to be a wheat. Some sweetness in the middle that disappears by the end. I’m a fan. No idea why this is called gumballhead.
