COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American Wheat Beer brewed with red wheat and boat loads of amarillo hops gives this summer brew a lemony finish. The slight haze in the bottle is from the bottle-conditioning, where yeast is added to the bottle for a secondary fermentation. Gumballhead is a Skingraft Comics hero. Check out Skingraft Comics and Records at www.skingraftrecords.com. Cheers!

UPDATED: AUG 16, 2004 2004 edition, Bottled. Bought a bomber bottle at the brewery, and it must have just come off the line. It pours with a big smell of fresh, green hops that just dazzles the nose. Foamy head more pilsner than wheat style. I think the smell helped overwhelm the grapefruit taste of the amarillo hops, because I couldn't find it easily. Maybe once it's sat for awhile, it will be closer to the way it tasted last year, but man, it's still great!
On tap, at the brewery, 2003. While my experience points are still low around here, I'll stick my neck out and say this is quite unlike any other beer out there. American Wheats are a little bland, unless they've been brewed with the spicy flavor of German wheats, but the Floyds never cared for following style. This has a big zesty wheat taste that I somehow guessed was North Dakota winter wheat, and Nick said I was right, but I don't know how I knew. Like with most 3F beers, there's a big smack in the face of hops, this one is all Amarillo, giving a different more orangey taste. Pleasing orange color, too. Gotta get out and find this stuff while it's around!

For those of you thinking this is just hype, it’s not. I’ve bought 10 cases of this so far and have paid 96 dollars for one of them. Aroma, absolutely unreal. I could smell this all day. I’m not even kidding. I know of no one that has tried this beer and hasn’t been astounded by it. It literally changes the game. When I had this for the first time it was like having beer for the very first time, I never had a clue any beer could taste this good. Add that to its beautiful color, head and undeniably beautiful aroma and you have a winner. It’s so different from anything you’ve ever had, I promise. Do make sure if you land your hands on this to ensure it is fresh, it does change in taste as it ages, and the wheat begins to get that chappy taste of blue moon. I love this beer so much and I credit it for my change to craft beers because I’ve searched so hard for it and never can find it so I now have found many other food beers.

Amazing wheat beer that almost tastes like an IPA, hoppy smooth delicious, transcends all boundaries of wheat ales.

Pours light golden with some white head. Aroma of wheat and lemon and a bit of pine. The taste is light and sweet with a hoppy finish. Overall a pretty decent beer and I would definitiely have some more of this.

Bottle. Pale gold with a nice, dense head. Huge pine aroma with a bit of citrus and malt. The wheat really smooths out the finish. Tastes more like a creamy IPA or pale ale.

Note: Tinus should update his ratings faster, in order to avoid double drinking! :p But I don’t think he minded...

Clear orange beer, irregular off-white head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: pretty fruity, peaches, some exotic fruits, passion fruit, mango. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: citrus, bit fruity, bitter hops, grassy, more citrus, sourish touch, some grains. Aftertaste: dry, bitter hops, fruity bubble gum, exotic fruits, citrus, grassy, sourish, wheat (?), bitter ending. Nice beer.

Slightly hazy dark golden colour, white head. Aroma of hops, malts, tropical fruits, wheat, yeast, candy, gumballs, caramel, apricot, light banana. Sweet flavour, wheat, bitter hops, clementine and light orange. Quite light body, finish hops, wheat, very fruity!
Great beer, I love this one!
(From 33cL bottle @ ZZT VII afterparty. Thanks for sharing, kermis!)

Update: Another bottle, shared by Tim @ the pre-FortaRock tasting. I remain at my opinion, it’s a great beer. Lovely fresh, fruity notes on a wheat background. Refreshing and balanced, I could drink this again and again.

Purchased at brewery. Road trip was well worth it. This is my summar staple. Great all day. I can’t believe this is a wheat beer. Great hop balance.

Sampled from bottle. Not much to detect from the notes taken other than I thought it was a bit weird but at the same time quite nice. Worth a try anyway.

Pours a crystal clear medium golden color with a huge fluffy white head that persists forever. Holy hop Batman, I wasn’t expecting such an aroma from this. Earthy pine and grapefruit atop a solid base of bready and spicy malts. The flavor is pine and resin atop a spicy yeasty earthy wheat base. Lingering spicy hoppy finish long after each sip. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet resinous mouthfeel. Wow, now that’s a wheat beer. Mild phenols don’t distract my sensitive palette and the hop flavor and aroma makes this quite interesting.
