Commercial Description:
An American Wheat Beer brewed with red wheat and boat loads of amarillo hops gives this summer brew a lemony finish. The slight haze in the bottle is from the bottle-conditioning, where yeast is added to the bottle for a secondary fermentation. Gumballhead is a Skingraft Comics hero. Check out Skingraft Comics and Records at <a href=http://www.skingraftrecords.com>SkingraftRecords.com. Cheers!

I can’t detect any wheat characteristic beneath the piney hops, so ultimately you end up with essentially an APA. Now, this being 3F, this is a damn good APA, a little bit lighter and refreshing than Alpha King.

(bottle) Pours a slightly hazy, but mostly clear light gold with a medium white head that sticks around. Aroma is full of fresh citric hoppiness, with some grapefruit, lemon peel, and a subtle earthiness. Further sniffs reveal some cheerios, mint, celery, and orange marmalade. Taste has flavors of watered-down orange juice, some guava, and finishes out with flavors of breakfast cereal and orange marmalade. In-between the orange and cereal is a brief hit of bitter hops that provides a nice tea-like astringency. Aside from the nose, nothing really stands out here. Might be a decent summer beer, but other than that, this is pretty disappointing.

( 12oz bottle) Pours a very pale color, but the head is amazing, huge bubbles in it, 2 fingers, and lots of carbonation coming from the bottom of this one. No lacing really. Smell is pretty straightforward. Grapefruit galore. In fact I’ve never smelled a beer anything quite like this. It’s good, refreshing, and straight up grapefruit. Not complex but solid. Maybe some spices here too. Taste is muted grapefruit compared to the smell. It’s a wheaty beer compared to how pale and clear this one is, but it is a little fruity, definitely spicy, and nicely refreshing. Hops are present here too and nicely done. Could use a bit more malt backbone to balance out the hops and spices though. Needs more creaminess, carbonation is nice.

12oz bottle. A yellow orange color with a sweet grapefruit cherry aroma and some pine. A crisp refreshing start with a bready hop finish. This is more like an ale then a wheat beer. A great session brew for outdoor drinking only.

Aroma of grapefruit, sour cherry, apricot and pepper. Appearance is reddish-gold with creamy head and good carbonation. Flavor matches the nose, with grapefruit\peppery hops up front and more fruit flavors in the finish. Palate is lively yet smooth. Well played, Three Floyds. It is nice to have your beers in Louisville.

It pours bright wheat straw in appearance with a big beautiful white head. With a lemony aroma, the beer first tastes like a delicius thick wheat beer and finishes perfectly with a cascade of sweet hops that delight the palate. The end reminds me of the smoothness of the hop slam.

One of my favorite drinking beers. Refreshing, light, but complex enough to keep you interested. Citrus, bubblegum, with a little bitterness and lemon in the finish.

12.28.09 bottle. Pours hazy amber with off-white medium bodied head. Aroma is citrusy, grapefruit, slight bitterness, hoppy. Tastes full-bodied hoppiness, citrus, tart, slight bitterness. Very nice beer. Dry mouth feel.

Too light. But that lemony hoppy flavor comes straight through - and it is delicious - balanced out well with the sweet and spicy wheat essence. Excellent beer to drink, uh, quickly.
