3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap at Smallbar Division in Chicago, IL while watching the final Premier League week relegation battles. Appearance somewhat clear dark amber with almost no head. Aroma not really present, maybe a bit of roasted malt in the backing. Taste is like freaking ham on rye! This may be the perfect hangover beer. Mainly dominated by a rye flavor with a hint of roasted/smoked malt, its just nuts because you can really taste the ham. Good and very unique.

3.9 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAY 8, 2011 Pours an ugly semi clear super dark gold, a light tan head forms a small ring... Fantastic nose of smoked ham, salt and bacon, closest thing I’ve smelled to a Schrenkerla, just awesome... Taste has incredible complexity and depth as its very similar to eating at a sandwhich as there is so many layers of flavor, rye break, ham, smoke, salt, great, light finish that almost dies hurts a bit... Feel is a touch watery... Great smoked beer to search out

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a deep copper color with a rocky head. Smells like a ham sandwich! Deep smoked malts and bacon with something else underlying. A nice caramel malt backbone with a nice amount of smoke, bacon, and tastey rye near the finish. Fairly thin mouthfeel. Pretty unique brew!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at 3 Floyds. Not too bad. The name pretty much says it all. Very ham/pork like, with a decent amount of smokiness. Not very harsh but rather smooth smokiness. Decent enough

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Picked up this growler at Three Floyds last weekend to share at a local tasting. Served in a Bruery tulip.
Pours a moderate red-amber color with a very thin off-white head that doesn’t stick around too long before falling and not leaving too much behind. The nose brings some lightly-smoked malt along with a bit of roasted--you guessed it--ham. There is a bit of bready malt there as well. Taste doesn’t quite bring home the bacon like I would have liked, though it certainly wasn’t bad. The base malt seemed to take up too much of the flavor. Medium body with a slightly-smokey finish. A good brew, but the taste didn’t live up to the nose.
