This Cascadian Immutable Dusk-style ale is as unwavering in its dark and beguiling flavor as itís namesake. Enjoy this black IPA brewed with our friends in the band PELICAN.

Purchased as a bomber at Three Floyds, enjoyed at home while relaxing on a Thursday night watching football. Great beer, great band! Appearance is a ruby dark brown / black with a very pronounced, bulbous off white head that nicely laces to the glass. Aroma is a fantastic floral hop profile, along with a nice roasted chocolate malt. Taste has a nice passion fruit hop profile, goes down with a light sweetness and is hop forward without being overtly bitter. Really nice brew.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a rich black with a thick khaki colored head. Aroma of chocolate, roast, pine, resin, and citrus notes. Some grapefruit, some mango and peach notes come out after it sits as well. Flavor is bitter but not bracingly so, branching out into exploring more flavor hops combined with the roasty and chocolate malt bill. Some cake and biscuit doughy sweetness combined with fruity hop notes. Bitterness comes out a bit more towards the back end. Pillowy mouthfeel with a creamy texture. Finishes somewhat subtly hoppy. Whether itís a cascadian dark ale or a black IPA, this is what the style should aspire to be.

Pours reddish dark brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of chocolate, citrus, grape and orange. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long chocolate and citrus fruity finish. Body is medium, texture is thin oily, carbonation is soft.

Bottle. Black with a large creamy tan head. Fresh citrusy and soapy hops, dark chocolate, liquorice. Medium body - pretty light for what I expected, oily texture, medium carbonation. Low on sweetness, long bitter finish. Good drinkability and my kind of black IPA.

Black pour with a thin head. Really full mouth. Lots of lace. Pleasing aroma full of grass and pine. Taste is bitter with grapefruit, grain and a little bit of roast. Really tasty Black IPA.

22 oz bottle. The pour is a nice dark dark brown with hints of dark red around the edges. There is a nice light tan head that fades down a little with some incredible lacing. The aroma is pretty underwhelming. There is a good licorice note and maybe a little roast, but there is just a light hoppiness and not a thing more. It's a little disappointing. The flavor is a bit better. There is a light coffee up front with a nice roastiness. The hops are a bit leveled and there is a good caramel balance. The mouthfeel is a little thin, but there is an incredible balance of carbonation to make this thing thick and velvety. The aftertaste is beautifully roasty and lingeringly bitter as you'd expect in a good IPA. I'm a fan of this beer! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
