This is our Belgian-style Dubbel ale aged in a pinot noir barrel with tart cherries. This is a really good beer.

Sampled from the tap at 2011 FOBAB. Poured a hazy amber with a yellowish white head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a bit of earthy red fruit with some slight tartness and a sweet grain and dryness backing. Flavor had a good amount of sweet grains with some tart grains and dry red wine in the finish.

Sampled on tap at FoBAB 2011 (Chicago, IL) and a couple samples later at the XV Party (Munster, IN). Pours a rich auburn hue, good haze and glow with a frothy offwhite head that dies to a ring and laces small. Aromas are toffee, biscuits, brown sugar and caramel mix with vanilla, fruity apple and pear, touches of cherry and red wine. Gentle tartness mixes, some Belgian spice. Initial is red wine tannins up front, dry and bitter, moving into tart cherries, touches of biscuits and spice. Barrel asserts it’s presence. Middle is tart and sour, lingering tartness and red wine, touches of spice. A bit one dimensional in experience, but quite tasty. Lovely beer with a lot of red wine/cherry and the bit big Ice Grille getting covered up. Finish is tart and dry, red wine and spice. Pretty nice.

Sampled on tap at FoBAB 2011. I somehow missed this one when it was in the pub, so I was looking forward to sampling it here. Reddish brown pour with a tan head. Aroma of tart cherries, nice pinot notes. Grapes, some caramel and oak. Quite incredible, actually. Flavor is tart, slick, some nice wine barrel notes. Nice tart cherries, some sweetness from the base beer but the treatment is the real star here. Great beer.

draft at fobab... my first foray into a Three Floyd’s sour, with the new releases at XV I’m very excited to try them if Kinder is any indication... this beer was excellent, the cherries were tart with a bit of sweetness and the pinot barrels SHINED to provide a great mouthfeel and light sour tart finish

Draft at FoBAB 9. One of my favorites of the festival. Pours a deep reddish brown, murky. Nose is really nice. Big cherry notes. Fortunately, the Ice Grille is really restrained in the nose. Some brown sugar and a hit of banana, but mostly it’s the cherries that really pop out. On tasting, really don’t pick up the Belgian notes at all. Just big juicy cherry notes. Softly tart as well. The barrel was a good choice on this one as it lends a bit of spicy wood notes, faint vanilla. Really great beer.

Kinder beer sampled on tap at FOBAB 2011... Pours a mostly opaque caramel toffee tinge and topped with a thin film of off-white head... Aroma of berry fruits with qn earhy tartness with a strictly malted caramel base. A touch of buttery toffee to coincide with the malt profile... Crisp lively apple cidery consistency, sour cherry and easy going. A little earth on the backend along side some vinous qualities Prickly and cider like with earthy malt undertones. Medium bodied. Solid 7/3/8/4/16

On tap at Fobab 9. Pours reddish amber with off-white head. Aromas of cherries, some tartness, spices, and faint vanilla. Flavors for cherries, belgain spices, red wines barrel notes, and some tartness. Really solid beer and the surprise of the night for me.

FoBAB 2011 and the 3F Anniversary Party. Brown red with a thin head. Rich caramels and sweet fruit. Slight acidity. Tart fruit and earthy wood. A little dirty with a bad finish. Ok. 8/3/7/3/14

FoBAB 2011. Solid beer. Pours cloudy red/brown with off white head. Sweet aroma of cherries. Light wood, cherry, and slightly tart. Well done.
