Clear dark orange beer, creamy beige to yellow head, bit stable, pretty adhesive. Aroma: very sweet, fruity, peaches, apple skin, some almonds, bit of caramel. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet start, very fruity, caramel, malty, lots of dried fruits, some banana, red fruit jam. Aftertaste: nice bitterness, very fruity, sugary, red fruit jam, dried fruits, other fruits, clean dry and bitter ending. WOW!

Bottle 10.4% abv. Cloudy amber color. Sweet malty aroma. Fruity and spicy but not something you will drink on a hot summerday.

Tap at The Grove, Huddersfield. Dark amber. Off white, thin head. Dark cherries and caramel dominate. Alcohol is warming but not intrusive. An ideal festive beer, perhaps? I could have got carried away with this. Fortunately, common sense prevailed!

10.4% 40 DKK a cloudy amber color with a beige head. Nice malty sweet aroma, full bodied mouthfeel. Spicy, sweet, malty. Very interesting. I like it.

(Draught – at Mikkeller Bar in Copenhagen, Denmark, 2012). Sweet scent and taste of raisins, tropical fruits, caramel malt, alcohol and floral hops. The alcohol is prominent in the finish but it is nonetheless quite subdued and experienced most as warming. A well-balanced and good beer!

A barley wine with wheat? Oddly enough, it does taste like that. A strong, sweet beer with the soft tones of wheat. Really nice, good that someone thought about this combination.

Pours dark amber with a thick off white head. Smells of hops and flowers. Tastes of bitter and hops. Has low carbonation and long bitter. Tasty beer, but the Risgoop was better.

Vintage bottle received in trade from MeadMe, thanks for the opportunity! Pours a slightly hazy deep copper color with a smallish khaki head that persists for a while before leaving some lace on the sides. Aroma is sweet with bready, honey sweet, sugary malt. Lots of caramel and brown sugar, sweet orange and a bit of spice and earthy hop aroma. Surprisingly little alcohol aroma for a beer at almost 11%. The flavor is sweet and malty up front with a ton of brown sugary caramel. The alcohol shows itself in the flavor and provides a whole lot of warming on the way down. Deep orange and light sweet fruity flavors along with a hint of spice and earthy hop round out the flavor nicely. Very faint sherry like oxidation but not nearly as present as the oatgoop last night. Medium to thick body with a light to moderate level of carbonation and a sweet almost syrupy mouthfeel. This one’s holding up fairly well, I enjoyed the hell out of it, like an old Barleywine at Mike’s house in Feb.
