Stine (1164), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA May 10, 2008 Poured from a 22 oz. bottle. Ruddy amber orange, semi transparent appearance. Big burly toffee and cake crust aroma with fruit tones of honeydew and orange. Brown sugar and overripe banana. Brutal alcohol. Dry flavor of pine needles and acrid crystal malt core. Wholesome malt sweetness of blonde brownies and pastries seems suffocated by this very green and rampant bitterness. Hints of sunny citrus hoppiness, toffee and caramel seem ready to rush in throughout, but the weight of alcohol and youthful acridity is simply overbearing. Ruinsome. Palate is thickly alcoholic and bruising, with a dirty, mean attitude. Licks of bland earthy bittereness in a long, unforgiving finish. Too much on every front right now. Thanks for sharing, Tyler! tytoanderso (1093), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA May 10, 2008 22oz bottle. Fairly straightforward barley wine. Resiny aroma. Pine sap, caramel, toffee, yadda yadda yadda. Really nothing to differentiate this BW from any other domestic offering. Pours a bright, clear, rich copper with a very thin white head. Sweet with plenty of sticky pine on the tongue. Near cloying in its sweetness. Oaky dryness. Vanilla, toffee and caramel. Medium bodied with an acrid and almost abrasive finish. Thanks Nelson! unclemattie (1400), Georgia, USA May 10, 2008 22oz bottle. Wicked label. Pours a sparkling copper. Aroma of spicy hop. Hints of rye, wheat. Big ABV. Flavor is of a boysenberry jam. Sweet, tart, and amazing. WOW! Caramel, vanilla, roast. Very smooth, creamy. Very heavy bodied. God Bless. Thanks ChainGangGuy! Ty5592 (932), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA May 10, 2008 Bottle. Pours a clear orange color. Nice clean thick looking beer. Malty sweet candy like aroma with light hops mixed in. The taste was the same with light bitterness in the finish. Sweet and sticky on the palate. Very good beer, only thing is that the next morning I had a headache. Thanks Goes to Robert for the bottle.
