17thfloor (590), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 1, 2008 Pours a dark pinkesh ruby red with thin beige head. Large piney resin, pineapple, sweet tootie-fruity aroma, some alcohol. Rich malt forward flavor with spciy and bitter hops on top. Mikkeller really shines thru in this one on the malt side...has that waxiness. Brown sugar roasted pineapples. Pretty easy drinking too...juicy and just enough stickiness to give it a body. Lots of alcohol though. Seems like a combo of Brian Boru and Stateside or All Others. Honestly, I think I would rather just have them seperate, but this is still damn good stuff =p need some bbq [I’ll sit on my other bottle for a year or two and see the difference, sure it’ll dull the hops but it’ll smooth it out overall, so we’ll see]
doubleo (683), San Diego, California, USA Jul 26, 2008 22oz bottle to the dome. Better than I was expecting. Pouras dark, hazy amber with a thin, crisp, offwhite head, no lace. Smells malty sweet and slightly spicy. Maybe with some hops and a bit of alcohol as well. Tastes malty sweet and spicy hoppy with some alcohol. Tastes a lot like a hoppy barleywine. Full body, good carbonation. TURDFERGUSON (1021), Carrboro, North Carolina, USA Jul 22, 2008 Tasted at the Carolina Crew gathering, Greenville - thanks to ucusty for sharing! Nose has a lot of hops. Flavor has a good bit of hops too. Surprise. Pretty nicely balanced and alcohol pretty well hidden. Not too much to complain about besides this tasting very similar to almost every other 3 Floyds beer I have had. Its good though. Magic_dave6 (3536), London, England Jul 22, 2008 Bottle at the RBESG08 Grand tasting. Alround rating: Great beer, huge caramalt sweet malt character balanced by an amazing peachy citrus hop character. Soo tasty i managed to get 2 samples. bager (1900), Copenhagen N, Denmark Jul 22, 2008 Bottle. Hazy reddish and golden coloured with a medium sized off-white head. Quite well balanced - and luckely, zero to none of the horrible banana flavour. Phew! Robust and malty - quite complex and interesting. bierkoning (4636), La Tropica, Netherlands Jul 22, 2008 Bottle @ DTS. Reddish amber color. Banana and mango in the aroma. Firm flowery, oily hopbitter flavor, hiding the fruity notes. Burning alcohol. Earthy hopbitter aftertaste. Balance could be a bit better.
