3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 gunhaver (1030) - Tampa, Florida, USA - SEP 10, 2008Bottle, at BA Throwdown #2. Pours a reddish bronze, creamy head and lacing. Caramel nose, wheat and straw, hoppy, colorful notes of dark fruit. Crisp flavors, mostly caramel, vanilla, some interesting rye elements, cocoa, and biscuit. Smooth body, tasty, big American influence here.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 bigaddie (55) - - MAY 22, 2013
Molasses, dark caramel odor with the carbonation hitting the nose well. It appears like a good wine beer with reasonable opacity.
The odor doesn't do enough justice to the taste. Complex taste that starts with molasses and heads down the palate with an acidic finish. Lots happening in the middle of the tongue. Hops hit you right in the middle with a combination of citrusy and grassy taste.
It is quite a good beer that I can't wait to drink again... Wait, ordering my second!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 mcberko (4065) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 8, 2013
On tap at Mikkeller & Friends, pours a deep dark ruby red with a small beige head. Aroma of rich caramel malts, deep dark fruits, and brown sugar -- very rich and fruity. Flavour of deep caramel tones, dark fruits, and dry bready malts. Full-bodied and dry fruity, with little sweetness. Rich palate, with a low sweetness and complex body. Excellent.

UPDATED: MAY 14, 2013 Very drinkable barleywine, but not particularly interesting one. Not down the hoppy line like boogoop, but nice sweetness. Dry finish. Wouldn’t chase after.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 BoringBard (102) - NORWAY - APR 18, 2013
Deep smell of hops, but also hints wheatbeer and caramelmalts. Red-ish amber whit huge white foamy head. Very sharp bitterness. Thin and refreshing mouthfeel. Nice look and smell, not as well tasting as I hoped after smelling.
4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Uhlen (173) - Trondheim, NORWAY - APR 18, 2013
Deep amber color with a nice foamy beige head. Aroma is spicy, soapy, sweet caramelmalts, citrus, hoppy. Taste is... weird. Heavy on the hops, with a long lasting taste of sweet bisquits. Dry towards the finish, alcohol is well hidden.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 gramity (1056) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - APR 11, 2013
On tap. Pours amber with a medium beige head...aroma is fruity malt, brown sugar, rough grain and floral hops still after all this time in the bottle...flavour is pine, hop flowers, rough grain, dk fruit and caramel...alcohol is terrifically integrated now, no burn, but a solid warming quality that keeps it from getting too sticky...sweetness...
I probably shouldn’t have had two of these after an assortment of other beers...I’m feeling like I could go for a nap under a bridge
