COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Behold! The fifth collaborative effort of Three Floyds and Mikkeller. This complex ale is just the beverage for canal boat trips in Copenhagen or the brutal Chicago winter. This year’s offering will be brewed in both Europe and in Chicago. Look for both editions and the subtle differences in each. Cheers and thanks for supporting craft beer.

Lighter copper color with a little white head of foam. Tropical fruit hop profile. Tangy and slightly metallic, but not in a bad way.

The body is lighter in color from the rice, golden hue, thin cap and collar. The aroma is really clean, it really smells like Zombie Dust in a way to me, with a light clean malt base it really lets the hops stay clean and crisp. Flavors are hop forward like crisp citrus and fruit notes, light pineapple and hints of mango, yum. I really like what the rice did in here actually. one of my complaints with a lot of ABWs is they get really resinous and sticky, and this one is not that way. Mouthfeel is light thanks to the rice. well done. Color me impressed. Better then i expected, worth grabbing if you like the style.

Bottle. Sweet orange/lime malt and pine/orange peel aroma. Hazy golden yellow with small head. Sweet lemon-lime, orange malt and moderately bitter orange peel flavor. Nice body. More like a I2PA - still very nice.

22 oz. bottle, pours a hazy golden with a medium white head. Nose is full of white chocolate, rice, some caramel, and slightly sweet light fruits. Flavour of rice, caramel, some lighter fruits, a little butterscotch and white chocolate. There is just enough hop content to balance the sweetness. Quite complex, though light-bodied, and well-balanced. Excellent stuff.

Bottle. Grapefruit, tropical fruit, light pine, and caramel malt aroma. Hazy honey gold with a moderate off-white head, nice lacing. Juicy sweet tropical fruit, grapefruit, honey, resinous piney hops, caramel malt flavor. Full sticky body, moderate carbonation. Reminds me rather more of a DIPA than a barleywine.

Bomber bottle and served in my big arse Karmeliet glass: Pours a hazy golden hue with a big olde frothy head and left very nice lacework upon the glassware. The aroma has notes of moderate dank, resiny, juicy and grassy hops over layers of caramel and bready malts. Moderately peppery and clove noted with a touch of metallic vapours. The taste follows the nose, moderately dank and juicy hops with a solid base of malts finishing with hop spice notes and some cleansing booze. I think I aged this well, took the edge off the bitterness. Yummy

Definitely an American Barleywine. Plenty of hops through and through. Malty and hoppy start to finish, adding minimal else to the flavor profile. Solid, not great.

On tap at Firkin. Poured a healthy shade of medium golden with a short, well-retained white head. The aroma picked up white pepper, light-skinned fruits, and a big dose of citrus over honey-kissed bready malts.. strong, but not boozy.. a touch muddled. The flavor found more honey than anything else at the core, with a little fruity meat too.. fruit skins, peppercorns, and citrus bitterness surrounded.. some earthy rice came through as it warmed.. finished warm, bitter, and mighty tasty. Heavy-bodied and filling on the palate.. low-moderate carbonation.. heavy-handed in some regards, but very good overall.

Hazy orange pour, good sized head, lively carbonation. Sweet aroma, loads of hops here. Slightly boozy, Tangerine, Dark overripe grapefruit - fairly sweet, almost a candy like quality to this. Medium body. I liked this, though it is far hoppier than I anticipated. A fairly good barley wine that would have made a fantastic double IPA.

22oz bottle purchased at Antioch Fine Wine and Spirits. Pours a hazy, light-amber color with a white head. Aroma is hoppy, floral, a little pine and citrus. Medium on the palate with soft carbonation. Flavor is sweet, bready, some caramel, some nice citrus, grapefruit hop bitterness, with a light bitter finish. Very nice.
