4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 Patrickctenchi (1693) - columbus, Indiana, USA - OCT 15, 2012
Pours peach-orange with a short, off-white head.
Aroma is sharp citrus and pine.
Taste is tropical fruit, piney hops...
Very bright and refreshing......perilously close to sticky sweetness.
A lot of conjecture among raters as to it’s exact species...
No matter how you pigeon-hole it, It’s a great, big 3F/Mikkeller beer.....
Nicely done.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20 teorn88 (1198) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 13, 2012
On tap at CPK, London. It pours a hazey orange with a small/medium off white head. Short lasted foam. Aroma is intensely hoppy with pine and mostly grapefruit. Flavor is similarly hop forward with a good malty backbone. Alcohol is well hidden for above 10%. Finish is dry and hoppy. This is the typical DIPA-like barley wine, but an amazing brew.
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Hammy78 (614) - Dundas, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 12, 2012
Bottle sent to me by a local. Pours an almost clear golden colour with a big white head that recedes to a sheet and walls of lacing. Nose is a hop bomb with carmalized malt and some alcohol too. Tastes quite hop bitter. Carmalized malt again. Dry finish with a sweet hop and spice aftertaste and with a fair amount of booze.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Leighton (6961) - London, ENGLAND - OCT 8, 2012
Keg at CPK, London. Pours light hazy gold with a fine, white foam head. Dry citrus fruit nose, some pine and caramel. Big sweet flavor but not cloying, some dry pine needles, toasty bread, caramel, light alcohol, melon and tangerine. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Warm finish, some sticky resins, nice melon and tangerine. Good stuff, good balance, not too sweet. Great.
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 dagimp (600) - Philly, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 7, 2012
I'm slightly angry. You'll see why in a minute. Poured from a bomber into a tulip. Purchased at the brewpub along with one other bottle. Very light gold, almost lager like yellow. Plenty of thick sticky head and a camouflage of white lacing. Beautiful floral head. Lots of tropical fruit.... Like Hawaii in a bottle. Mouthfeel is surprisingly light for a beer this large. But it's got too much carbonation. Taste is much like the aroma tons of hops. Very floral, tropical, citrus, skunk and some pine to finish it off. It is a fantastic IPA. Which brings me to why I'm angry. This is a big ass IPA and a fine one at that. But it's listed as a barley wine. If I knew it was so hop forward I'd have drunk it a month ago! Oh well. It's a really great beer either way!

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 ddemmingjr (592) - Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA - OCT 7, 2012
Bottle: pours clear golden, foamy off white head that recedes to a fine ring. Nose is pungent fresh hops, tropical fruits and grapefruit, pine resin, herbal and somewhat musty. On the palate, sweet malts followed by pine resin bitterness, some spicy alcohol. Sticky on the lips. Medium bodied. Not a barley wine as its a DPA..my favorite style and I dig it

Bottle. Pours a clear orange gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has a good amount of hops with a contrasting sweetness from the rice. Flavor begins with bitterness and a bit of resin but quickly becomes sweet with rice and a hint of caramel.
