Saturated copper color with a yellowish off-white head. Really beautiful head, creamy, bubbles in perfect size.

Aroma is citrus, floral, heavy mango flavour, rambutan and tropical juice.

Taste is tropical fruits, fantastic hopiness, balanced booziness, grapefruit peel, pine, orange juice, rich maltiness. Got very surpriced by the first sip...in a positive way. very different from the two first goop’s I´ve tried. It´s like a massive tropical fruit bomb. an almost perfectly constructed beer but at the same time exotic and original.

Feels great in the mouth also. Simply a great beer!

Great hoppy beer with a strong citrus-hop smell. The taste lingers after swallowing. Redish amber in color with little head. Very distinct fresh hop taste, excellent. Should get better with age.

Bottle from November 2010 purchased @ the brewpub, cellared @ 54 degrees for one year, two weeks. Pours a hazy deep red with loosely bubbled head and great retention. Aroma was blisteringly hoppy when fresh but has mellowed since, allowing the intensely spicy rye bread character to emerge along with notes of bleu cheese, deep caramel sweetness, and balanced spiciness from the hops. As it warms, notes of thyme, rosemary, and carroway emerge. Taste is rye bread, caramel candy, spice, minor green apple, resin, cedar. Body is full, oily/slick, low low carbonation, sweet but balanced finish. Overall, this is incredibly complex and really benefits from aging.

snifter on tap at brewpub. pours an amber orange with a thick white head. Aroma is excellent - very fresh - grapefruit, pine, sweet rye background. Can tell this will be good. Taste is all citrus and piney hops - overwhelming grapefruit but nice sweet rye to balance it. excellent beer, honored to try it first day on tap.

31-DEC-2010, Bottle brought by Henrik. Orange with huge beige head. Lovely piney nose with citrus. For a barley wine it is low on malt and high on hops. Fantastic brew. Can I detect the Rye? Perhaps... It is very creamy and full. ahmm

On tap at the brewery. Hazed orange pour with a creamy head. Tons of fresh hops rising from the glass. Pine grapefruit with rich caramel malts. So fresh and delicious. Pine and grapefruit hop flavors pouncing on my tongue. The sweetness is balanced so well with that combination of hops. The fresh hoppyness with grapefruit and pine really reminds me of old fresh dreadnaught. There is a certain maltiness but I don’t notice the rye. Its basically a super fresh and tasty IIPA. Really good. 9/4/9/4/17

Bottle from sherm1016. Opened slightly chilled. Slightly hazy amber/copper color and pours with a big thick off-white head. Excellent retention, thick lacing. Perfect looking barleywine. The aroma shows a hefty hop profile of citrus, grapefruit, and pine. Biscuity malt and an herbal tea scent joins in. Sharp, yet balanced flavors between sweet toffee malts and bitter leafy and citrus hops. Definitely American style with all the hops. It has an herbal, silky, almost creamy quality to it that smooths it out nicely. Perhaps that’s the rye, or perhaps it’s not. I can’t say I specifically picked up rye. Man, this really is tasty stuff. Way better than the Oatgoop I had not too long ago. Maybe it’s just because this one is fresher, I don’t know. But regardless, this is a high quality barleywine.

I am sitting at the bar of the actual brew pub As I type this..pause, sip. This stuff blows the senses off kilter, into the bland scenery that surrounds this wonderful bar. I’ve never had three floyds beer before today, but making it apart of my daily routine, despite the daunting task, would greatly improve the quality of my life. The beer! The man said it was a barleywine. Well if that’s the case, than this is the hoppiest barley wine I’ve had in my life. Well done, three floyds!
