Not quite the Kubrick of beers, but a very good and very sweet beer. Wouldn’t want more than one of these though.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle courtesy of Kermis. Poured a deep mahogany with a thin tan head. The aroma is rich liqourice. The flavour is medium rich bitter oily, with liqourice and roasted malt. Not particularly complex but very satisfying.

750ml bottle. Pours pitch black with thick frothy tan head that quickly dissipates. Aroma reminds me of Oreo cookies. Big chocolate notes, cream, and sweet malts. Taste of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and some light vanilla notes, with a sweet bitter finish.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
22 oz. bottle: pours jet black with a khaki colored head. Creamy vanilla coffee aroma. Hints of chocolate and caramelized sugar! Pretty lively on the palette for a stout. Flavor kind of reminds me of a crime brûlée. Lots of malty Carmel flavor but not cloyingly sweet. Long balanced finish.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Mikkeller & Friends, April 2013.
Almost black with a small tan head. Aroma and taste of dried fruit, soy, milk chocolate, malt and some notes of coconut. Sweet but an ok beer with a creamy mouthfeel. Not as "milky" as expected.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle thanks to manbrognig74. This is one of the best all around stouts I have ever had. A slight smokey aroma that isn't too overpowering. The malts are balanced by a slight bitter bite. The body is quite smooth and creamy. It goes down quick.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: NOV 22, 2013 Updated 11/22/2013: Nearly black body sports swirls of brown lace and some mild head on the surface. Sticks to the sides of my glass, leaving behind a translucent film as its calling card.
Aroma of deeply roasted malt, coffee, bittersweet baker’s chocolate, and hints of cinnamon too. Taste is full-bore milk stout with the lactose strutting its stuff like a Bee Gees music video. Tilts to the sweeter side of the spectrum, but not by much: the balance here is easy to appreciate.
Smooth, chewy, viscous body clearly outshines the Samuel Smith’s Chocolate Stout my co-worker is drinking next to me. I’m a big fan of the style, and this is one I look forward to every year.
Original Rating: Sweet, bready malts; lactic base is kinda weak. Roasted malt soothes my taste buds, yet doesn’t have the maturity shown by last year’s batch. An excellent shelf beer nonetheless.
