3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A: The pour is a deep, dark brown color (almost black) with a modest tan head.
S: This is a fairly roast and coffee forward beer with some background notes of chocolate, cream, and a slight sweetness.
T: The sweetness was nowhere near as pronounced in the flavor as I’m accustomed to with milk stouts. That said, there were still some nice coffee, roasted malt, and mild cream flavors.
M: The body is medium with a a fairly conservative level of carbonation.
D: While not as sweet as many other examples of the style, I enjoyed the roasted and coffee notes this beer provided. The more milk stouts I drink, the more I enjoy them.

Bottle shared by alexsdad06.
Poured clear dark brown color with medium brown frothy head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Medium to heavy roasted chocolate malt, woody and tobacco aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted sweet flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate duration to long duration.
My expectations where met with a very good stout.

Bottle at "Darkness comes to town", 131116. Black beer with almost no head. Malty roasted aroma, milky, caramel, cocoa powder, creamy, some cocoa. Roasted tar and ash flavor, caramel, hay, licorice, toffee, ash, some cocoa powder. Nice beer but not a lot of attitude.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2012 Bottle with Steve and the Foco BA crew. Dark brown appearance with a brown head. Milky, chocolate malty, light coconut, a bit roasty aroma. A bit sweet milky chocolate, a touch fruity, ever so slightly smoky flavor that’s well carbonated.

Bottle... Backus’s Backdoor Bash ‘08... This beer rocks!... Pours pitch black and sits, menacingly, in my glass. Small, creamy, well-tanned head. Decent retention. Chocolaty, roasted nut aroma. Full-bodied with a velvety/silky mouthfeel and supple carbonation. Sweet, chocolaty and very lightly acrid. Lengthy, pleasantly sweet finish. Thanks to dchmela for sharing the bottle!

Big thanks to BBB63 for providing me with a hand bottled sample of this gem. Poured a dark brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, milky and I think Eric hit it dead on when he said marshmellows. Aromas where stronger than the tastes with tastes of chocolate, milky, roasted malts and a little nutty. Worthy of seeking out.
