Tasting at mcbackus 10/19. Finally I get to try this one. Black pour, very small tan head. Lactic smell with some milk chcolate notes, and roasted malt. Flavor is very nice. Chocolate, roasty, and smooth. I liked it very much. Another good FFF beer.

Big thanks to BBB63 for providing me with a hand bottled sample of this gem. Poured a dark brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, milky and I think Eric hit it dead on when he said marshmellows. Aromas where stronger than the tastes with tastes of chocolate, milky, roasted malts and a little nutty. Worthy of seeking out.

Bomber from thetomG. Thanks! Pours pitch black with a fizzy medium sized brown head. Poor head retention and OK lacing. Aroma of chocolate, toffee, lightly roasted malts and a sweet note. The taste is roasted malts, a lactic note, some caramel and some toastiness. Almost a coconut-like note. Medium bodied. Nicely done. Good beer.

Bottle from an awesome trader! Pours black with tan head. Nose/taste of lactose, black licorice, roast chocolate malt and vanilla. Well balanced. Medium body. Great movie reference! (obviously)

Bottle from Jon. Big coffee lactose aromas. Black with on inch of beige head, and it is lacey. The taste is very lactose, chocolate and then milk finishes. Creamy mouthfeel.

22oz courtesy of tjthresh shared with SpencerDB. Pours nearly jet black with a thin tan head that has fairly good retention and lacing. Aroma is at first a bit funky and metallic and then as it warms turns to muted tobacco, coffee, roasted malt. Taste is very sweet chocolate, oily ganache, brown sugar oatmeal. Sweet but not cloying. Huge oily mouthfeel. 8% is well hidden. So easy to drink from the oats in the mash it could be a session stout.

Sample at the Hopsnobbery Collective tasting on 12/10/08:Thanks to JaBier for sharing a bottle. The beer pours nearly black with dark brown around the edges. Ultra-thin dark beige head that diminishes quickly, and spotty lacing. Aroma of coffee and milk chocolate with a nice roasty undertone. Medium, creamy body with flavors of coffee and roasted malt, as well as a nice sweet chocolate presence. The finish is bittersweet chocolate with a roasted coffee aftertaste. Very good overall.

Tap at the Map Room. Deep black pour with a thick brown head. The nose is lovely. Sticky and rich and cocoaish with a lot of herbal roastiness. Very silken/velvety palate. Rich and thick with a nice herbal sweetness. Light black pepper through the middle along with the thick dark malts. Toasted/chocolatey finish with a farily assertive hoppiness. Chewy, thick and delicious.

My Bottom Line:
This super-sweet Milk Stout offers loads of vanilla, milk chocolate and coconut flavors for a creamy pint of dessert not for the faint of tongue.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam tops the brown-tinged black.
-A certain fruitiness is apparent in the nose, akin to maraschino cherries.
-The light carbonation makes the sweetness overshoot its purpose and diminishes drinkability.
-The finish does offer some earthy, almost vegetal hop notes, but the prevalent sweetness tends to wash over them pretty quickly.

2009-10-24. Black body with a small khaki head that fades. 3+ Aroma is pleasant, light roast, dark malt is milder than expected. 7+ Flavour is similarly much less assertive than I anticipated but rich. Decent malt character, lactose? - in a good way - very light bitterness in the finish. 8+ Alcohol is not at all noticeable. Smooth average to medium bodied palate. 3+ Pretty solid stout, very drinkable. Bottle from Liquor Stop, Indiana
