Bottle... Backusís Backdoor Bash Ď08... This beer rocks!... Pours pitch black and sits, menacingly, in my glass. Small, creamy, well-tanned head. Decent retention. Chocolaty, roasted nut aroma. Full-bodied with a velvety/silky mouthfeel and supple carbonation. Sweet, chocolaty and very lightly acrid. Lengthy, pleasantly sweet finish. Thanks to dchmela for sharing the bottle!

Bomber from thetomG. Thanks! Pours pitch black with a fizzy medium sized brown head. Poor head retention and OK lacing. Aroma of chocolate, toffee, lightly roasted malts and a sweet note. The taste is roasted malts, a lactic note, some caramel and some toastiness. Almost a coconut-like note. Medium bodied. Nicely done. Good beer.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Big thanks to BBB63 for providing me with a hand bottled sample of this gem. Poured a dark brown color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, milky and I think Eric hit it dead on when he said marshmellows. Aromas where stronger than the tastes with tastes of chocolate, milky, roasted malts and a little nutty. Worthy of seeking out.

Bottle from Jon. Big coffee lactose aromas. Black with on inch of beige head, and it is lacey. The taste is very lactose, chocolate and then milk finishes. Creamy mouthfeel.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz courtesy of tjthresh shared with SpencerDB. Pours nearly jet black with a thin tan head that has fairly good retention and lacing. Aroma is at first a bit funky and metallic and then as it warms turns to muted tobacco, coffee, roasted malt. Taste is very sweet chocolate, oily ganache, brown sugar oatmeal. Sweet but not cloying. Huge oily mouthfeel. 8% is well hidden. So easy to drink from the oats in the mash it could be a session stout.

Sample at the Hopsnobbery Collective tasting on 12/10/08:Thanks to JaBier for sharing a bottle. The beer pours nearly black with dark brown around the edges. Ultra-thin dark beige head that diminishes quickly, and spotty lacing. Aroma of coffee and milk chocolate with a nice roasty undertone. Medium, creamy body with flavors of coffee and roasted malt, as well as a nice sweet chocolate presence. The finish is bittersweet chocolate with a roasted coffee aftertaste. Very good overall.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
650 ml bottle, only 6.49 from Discount Liquor in Milwaukee, in a state that FFF doesnít distribute to, yet I can only find it for 9.99 in Illinois. Quirkly label art adorns the bottle.
Pours a dark black/brown with a small caramel colored head. Leaves come nice lacing.
Smell is really sweet, almost like a chocolate stout but with less cocoa flavor. Also has the roasted malt scent. Maybe even some vanilla in there.
Taste is mega sweet and delicious. More so than the other milkstouts I have had, it isnít as creamy as some but it really feels and tastes like a decadent dessert. Very chocolatey, sugary, and carmally, decadence. No too sweet, not too heavy either, a really well produced beer.
This is about as drinkable as it gets for a stout and it is a great beer to cap the night off with.

Tap at the Map Room. Deep black pour with a thick brown head. The nose is lovely. Sticky and rich and cocoaish with a lot of herbal roastiness. Very silken/velvety palate. Rich and thick with a nice herbal sweetness. Light black pepper through the middle along with the thick dark malts. Toasted/chocolatey finish with a farily assertive hoppiness. Chewy, thick and delicious.
