COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Bavarian-style Oktoberfest bier brewed with the finest Bavarian malted barley, aromatic German noble hops and traditional yeast brewed in strict accordance with the German bier purity law of 1516, the Reinheitsgebot. This rich malty lager is one of the few that remain true to the tradition of fest beers originally brewed to honor the marriage of Prince Ludwig in 1810. We hope you enjoy this fall offering. Es is nicht normal. Prosit."

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2009 Draft. This is apparently available commercially for 2006 to whichever commercial accounts get the first deliveries next week. This is still pretty young. It pours pretty brown and hazy at this date. Has a yeasty bite at first, but the smell of its caramel and Vienna roast malts overcomes that. A bit gassy, but again very malty, and quietly hopped for a Floyds beer. Although there may be a bit of American northwest hops to add a bit of citrusy taste.

Pours transparent copper with a big off white head. Nose is caramel apple. Flavor is sweet, sweet and more sweet. I know that the marzen should be sweet, but this feels a bit overboard. Mouthfeel is light and crisp, good aftertaste. 3F is my favorite brewery and I love almost all of the beers I’ve had from them, but I don’t care for this to much.

Unusual and attractive dark amber pour. Aroma is grainy and herby, and not the best. Surprisingly sweet for a lager (or marzen, it says lager on the label for some reason). The hops are pretty quiet. Not bad, but I expected more - this is probably my lowest rated 3F release.

22 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle date but it is this years batch. Pours crystal clear orangish golden amber color with a nice fairly dense 2 finger off white head with good retention that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Some spotty lacing clings to the glass as well. Aromas of apple, pear, biscuit, light caramel, and spicy hops. Nice and fairly standard Oktoberfest aromas; very malty. Taste of toasted malt, light caramel, biscuit, pear, apple, and spicy hops. Very crisp and slightly dry finish. Hardly any bitterness noticed on the finish; with some light lingering notes of biscuit, caramel, toasted malt, light fruit, and spicy hops for a bit. Medium carbonation and body; with a crisp and very smooth mouthfeel that drinks exceptionally easy as expected. Alcohol is well hidden with nothing really noticed at all. Overall this is a very nice Oktoberfest offering. Nice balance and very drinkable stuff.

Pours a clear and copper beer with a weak offwhite head. The aroma is malt and caramel. The flavor follows the nose. The palate is sweetness. Overall an average beer.

Bottle:   Deep amber, slightly hazy, moderate frothy white head, spotty lacing.   Strong pale bready aroma, slightly sweet.   Strong sweet malty start, bready on the pale side.   Unlike many others of the style, this one isn’t mealy, which is appealing.   Fairly full bodied.   Sweet bready finish, very pale fruitiness.   Very clean this is.   One of the better Marzens I have had as of late.   Thanks for the bottle Kevin!

A good example of the style, but rather muted for a 3 Floyds beer, if you get what I’m saying. Most of their stuff pushes the extremes, so this one is a bit quiet. Pours a nice golden-amber yellow with mid-sized head. Floral, grassy aroma and flavor. A rather thin beer on the palate, but decent enough for all that.
