When Baller Stout was created, bourbon barrels were filled with Surly Darkness, Three Floyds Dark Lord, De Struise Black Albert, and Mikkeller Beer Geek Brunch

These were aged for 14 months seperately and blended together to taste.

Shared bottle with a few different folks. Pours black with an aroma of sugar and coconut. If you don't like sweet beer this ones not for you. Tasted of chocolate, brown sugar and all the SMG (sweet malty goodness) you can handle. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottleshare thanks to homer! This guy is awesome! But don’t tell him I said so. Pours black with tan head. Aroma is sweet chocolate and toffee, pretty great. Taste is sweet, smooth, chocolate, raisin, little alcohol burn. This is orders better than baller. Nice beer.

Bottle share thanks to Homer321. Big complex malty aroma, molasses, light booziness, sweet, bourbon, light oak. Dark thick pour, brown head. Sweet, malty, boozy, bourbon, light oak. Smooth but still some alcohol heat. More sweet, caramel, molasses, and booze..Huge and yumm.

Black with modest, dissipating, tan head and light lacing (ba) / Big nose of chocolate, coconut, coffee, bourbon barrel / Full body, creamy, sweet but fine balance, with long finish / Intense, inky flavors of chocolate, roast coffee, molasses, licorice, bourbon barrel, caramel, tobacco / Somewhat overpowering, as these can be, but a treat to try in small quantities /

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Pours murky and dark brown with a small, creamy, off-white head. The aroma is a mélange of fudge, toasted coconut, blackstrap molasses, vanilla and pouch tobacco. Full-bodied, velvety and chewy with soft carbonation. The flavor is a marriage of big, bad, hearty roastiness and pouch tobacco sweetness. Notes of bourbon and fudge mingle nicely in both the flavor and the finish. Big THANKS to ctipping for providing this world class bottle of brew!

Coffee, sweet cocoa malts, lots of bourbon, intensely boozy, pretty tasty. It’s really tough to drink though, and it doesn’t really offer some extremely novel take on the style. I’d rather have countless other RIS, since I struggled to finish 6 oz. of this one and have downed entire bottles of Speedway on my own.

Cocoa powder, toasted malt, coffee beans, dark fruit, tobacco, and wood. Potent bittersweet taste, astringent, and a bit vinous. Smooth, oily, full bodied, and rich.

Big thanks to DocJ007 for busting this one open for us at the last monthly tasting. Served right after Baller for comparison sake.

A - Pours ink black with a decent one finger tall tan head, quickly dissipating down to a light film, leaving small trails of lace on the sides of the glass.

S - Smells of dark chocolate, coffee, vanilla, molasses, dark fruits, plenty of woody oak, warm bourbon and lots of dark roasted malt. Much better than the base but still a touch out of focus, I guess that is expected.

T - Starts off with the sweetness - mainly the molasses, vanilla, dark fruits and dark chocolate - slowly being joined by the coffee, oak, toffee, smooth bourbon and the ever present dark roasted malt. Finish is sweet and roasty with a bit of dryness at the end of each sip, lingering long after the finish.

M - Heavy body with moderate carbonation. Smooth, creamy feel makes it very easy to consume. Very little of the reported 14% is noticeable.

O - I am not a fan of the base beer at all but this is very good. I would have never guessed it would be this good to have this many beers blended together. I am honestly surprised how much the barrel has smoothed everything out. Glad I could finally try this one, thanks again Justin!

Bottle from MeadMe, HUGE thanks for sending it my way so I could share it with the Tasters Choice group! Pours a thick viscous black color with a smallish tan head that dissipates quickly. Huge rich malty aromas of brown sugar, caramel, molasses, coffee, dark chocolate, light wood and hints of bourbon, light fruit and smoke. Huge complex nose that I could park my nostrils over all night. The flavor is richly complex like the aroma suggested. Huge sweet sugary maltiness as a base to a bit of chocolate and roasted grains set in some bourbon oak and lightly smokey with touches of fruit and earth. Medium to thick body with a light level of carbonation. Fantastic frigging beer right here! If I weren’t driving sat night I would have seriously Bogart-ed this bottle!
