Pint (draught, 5.1%) at Sergio’s World Beers in Louisville, KY. Rating #45 for this beer.

On tap at FFF. Filtered orange-tan with a soapy, steady, creamy off white head. Sweet, very smoky. Rich, golden malt tones. Doughy, very true to style. Soapy hop balance. Refreshingly excellent.

On tap at Kuma’s. Clear yellow orange with a white head. Some smoked malts under the pale malts that seem to grow as the beer warms. The pale malts combine with an unclean toasty bitter flavor. Not bad but I’m not in love with it either. 8/3/7/3/15

On tap. Pours golden with an off-white head. Aroma of smokiness, light malts, and floral hops. Flavor of smokiness, and about the same as the aroma. Average texture. A pretty good beer, but not my style.

This is a smoked helles lager, very similar to a Bamberg lager...On tap at Hop Leaf into a pint glass...Pours a clear medium gold, light white head, not much retention or lacing...Really nice aroma for a lager. Light salty pork and smoke set the tone and are the backbone of this beer. Nice sidenotes of crackers, sweetness and malt...Taste is equally nice, mostly a light smoke throughout that adds complexity to another wise pretty boring lager. A little to light in the feel but easy drinker. Great attemp at Bamberg style lager. Not as good as those but worth trying if you are a fan of the style.

Tap. Poured clear amber color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate smoke lager aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet smoke flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectation where met.

On tap at Sergio’s, Louisville. Aroma of hickory campfire, caramel and light herbal hops. Appearance of tinted gold with 1/4 inch white head. Flavor wood and smoke up front, moving to light sweetness and light herbal hop finish. Palate was creamy in this medium bodied beer. Nice smoked.

On tap at Revolution in Chicago. Pours an ever so slightly hazed, orange-golden colored body with a finger-width, dense and frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is solid. Sweetly smoked with a lightly sweetened pale maltiness. A touch of salty meat, band aid, a light grainy sweetness, and a hint of citrusy hops. Flavor is really nice. Lots of smoked meat, a light salt, a lightly sweetened pale malt that provides a solid balance, a touch of caramel, a bit of a grainy sweetness, and a hint of citrusy hops behind everything. Finishes with a solid smoked pale maltiness and a touch of bread along with a light bitterness that leaves a very lengthy aftertaste. Medium body and soft, moderate carbonation. Overall, a very nice smoked helles. Well balanced and very flavorful.

On tap; pour is clear golden with a light white head. Decent retention, nice lacing on the pour. Smoky campfire on the nose. Perhaps a bit of ham... a bit of light florals on the nose. Smoky campfire flavors, floral hops, light bready malts, finish is a bit dry. Really my first light bodied smoke beer. Interesting

Half pour on tap at fff... Pours a hazy glden apricot pour with a rhin film of soapy white head... Aroma of light smoked malt and tangerine citrus notes, lighter grains on the backend... Flavors are much of the same with more an emphasis on the sweeter grains and smoke to a lesser degree. Sweet grain finish on the backend with a modium of bitterness. Carbonation is mostly lively and medium bodied. Easy drinkin
