3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Rasmus40 (7004) - Beder, Aarhus, DENMARK - MAY 31, 2011
Hazy copper with an off-white head. Aroma is sweet malty, caramel, fruity and moderate hoppy - citrus. Flavor is rather sweet and moderate bitter. Dry finish. Not as sweet and alcoholic as the Bourbon Behemoth, and that a good thing. 250511

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Rune (6125) - Tromsø, NORWAY - JUN 6, 2011
200ml draught. Shiny bright surface to amber-orange coloured body. Dark fruity smell, sweet and bitter. The flavour profile contains a fine blend of dark fruity hops and malty sweetness. Smooth and dry bitter ending with alcohol warmth. More than satisfying to my taste buds (happy drinking with other ratebeerians at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen 26.05.2011).

Tap at 3F brewpub. Sweet peach/apple, brown sugar/toffee aroma with light alcohol. Amber color with small head. Sweet light peach/apple malt, brown sugar flavor with moderately bitter citrus hops finish. Full bodied. Excellent - one of the best and smoothest barley wines I’ve ever had.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 larsga (5325) - Oslo, NORWAY - JUN 13, 2011
Head is just a thin white ring. Clear amber body. Clean citric resiny aroma with toffee, caramel and mint notes. Dry-sweet intense minty resiny oranges taste with peas and butter notes. Mid-bodied. Mild yet sharpish mouthfeel. Dry-bitter minty floral toffee aftertaste with spicy buttery resin notes. A spicy minty flavour lingers. Lovely, subdued barleywine with good harmony and balance. (0.2l draft at Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen.)

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Thorpe429 (4844) - , Illinois, USA - APR 20, 2011
On tap at the brewpub. Served in a tall goblet.
Pours a ligh copper color with a half-finger of white head that faded and leaves a bit of spotty lacing as well as a thin collar. The nose is really quite plain wit just a bit of light malty sweetness.and some very faint tropical hops.
The taste is a bit of a disappointment. There are some tropical hops and some lightly-sweet malt, though it is a bit medicinal and boozy toward the back. Finish is oddly alcoholic and has a bit of a medicinal component. Not my favorite brew from them, sad to say. Interesting, but not all that good in the end.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a clear amber with a light tan head that dissipated to the edges and left a slight lace. Aroma had a decent amount of sweet grain with caramel and a hint of backing toffee. Flavor began with sweet grain and caramel with a bit of grassy hop coming out in the finish.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 phaleslu (4454) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - OCT 19, 2010
Draft at the brewpub, split with a buddy. Pours a cloudy amber color with a tiny white head. Aroma is very fruit-forward, with notes of apples, raisins, cherries, sweet caramel malts, and plenty of brandy-like booze; there was something lactic throwing me off in the nose, though. It drops out of the flavor, fortunately, and booze leads, with caramel malts, wood, earthy hops, and sugar. Lingering bitterness and alcohol. Medium-full bodied, with moderate carbonation and a boozy mouthfeel. Big and warming.
