4.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JAN 5, 2014 Pours a bright, opaque sunset orange color with decent carbonation and about a finger length head that dissipates to a thin lacing. Smells of pretty bright, juicy tropical fruits like papaya, guava, and pineapple. Also get some resinous citrus fruits like orange and a slight grapefruit. Nice candied sweetness as well. Smells like a big, sweet, citrusy double ipa. Taste is amazing. Starts with bright, clean citrus fruits like orange and grapefruit with some resinous pine that adds quite a bit of abrasive bitterness. Then melds into a nice carmel/candied sweetness, somewhat bready malt backbone. This gives the fruity hop qualities a more juicy-like flavor. Finish brings a slight abrasive bitterness back, but its subdued compared to some of their other dipas. Along with this comes more of the tropical fruit variety. Pineapple, papaya, and mango stand out as well as a great candied sweetness. Also get just a hint of pine. Just the slightest alcohol burn on the end, but no alcohol to smell or taste, which is impressive for 10.5%. A crisp and somewhat clean, refreshing finish that really makes this beer awesome. High medium body with a creamy and slightly oily mouthfeel from the hops, but still very clean compared to other dipas at this strength. I have very high expectations when it comes to three floyds dipas and this one meets it and then some. Outstanding beer.

Pours a nice looking golden orange, with thin off white head. Has a citrus, orange, peach, and mango aroma. There’s a citrus, peach, mango, grapefruit, and slight caramel taste. Overall very smooth, and the abv hidden nicely.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Jester King Zwanze Day. Golden pour with a white head. The aroma and flavor have some very nice tropical fruit and orange citrus notes. The juicy orange notes really stand out, but are complemented by some sweet malty character. I also get some nice alcohol and bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Bottle in trade from Joe. Thanks buddy! Been wanting to try this one for a while now. Bottle dated 8/20/14 poured 9/11/14. Pours very slightly hazy golden orange colored with a huge creamy and fluffy white head. Aroma is big time juicy citrus hops, mango, pineapple, grapefruit, grass, sweet malt and very reminiscent of Dreadnaught (though it's been a while since I had that one). Flavor is big on the dry pine bitterness with sweet mango and grapefruits, some sweet malt backing but this is much lighter than expected. Lingering dry bitterness on the tongue. This seems to bridge the gap of the super bitter and the sweet tropical malty DIPA extremes and comes off very nicely. Medium plus bodied, very resinous, dry finish, with medium carbonation. This is excellent.

A most excellent gift. Pours a hazy golden toward orange-ish with a fair off-white cap that hangs out at a low level and leaves some touches of spotty lace. Nose involves a stone fruit perfume riding above a robust gym-socky yeast along with some crackery, biscuity and lightly caramelized malts. Pretty sweet, decently but not insanely bitter. Big body, oily, soft yet active, with a lingering tingly piney bitterness. Perhaps Dreadnaught and Panzer Wolf had a love child, and they named it Permanent Funeral? Whatever the familial background, this is definitely tasty, and definitely worth a shot even if you are a 3 Floyds h8r (like I may or may not be). Would be fun to smoke a green bowl with. I think there may be some Illuminati symbolism in the art-work, but there is also Illuminati symbolism in the mock-up I did for Dogfish Head Saison du Buff (blank 4-pack holders, wtf???), so, I think the feds finally found out about craft beer. Now we can all burn in hell in peace. (p.s. I set aside a 2 oz portion in the sun for like 7 minutes and, yeah, skunked. Science is kool!).
