4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 lamas (1201) - Washington DC, USA - SEP 2, 200622 oz. bottle courtesy of Degarth. Pours a murky orange/rust color with a one finger-thick tan head. Smells like a saison mixed with an IPA. Pretty much what I expected from Three Floyd’s. Some musty, herbal notes with a good deal of piney hops and bubblegum. Wow! The taste is just straight up bizarre and unlike any beer I’ve had! Starts with some sweet caramel along with coconut, pumpkin pie, almonds and that rock-hard gum included in packs of baseball cards. Transitions to some sweet/sour oranges, orange peels and lemons and finishes with some dry, bitter hops that linger with some warming alcohol and vanilla. An incredibly original beer. Seriously underrated.

Bottle courtesy of Ryan. Pours a murky golden orange with very little head. Nose of orange peel, pineapple, pepper, funk. Very sweet, like a fruit juice. Might be better in a different context but I don’t love this.

Peppery and aromatic flowers. Notes of lavender, chamomile along with a spicy hop profile. This beer is best enjoyed as fresh as possible.

Pours a hazy gold with minimal head. Basically no lacing.... Smells kind of flowery, hard to pinpoint what i smell. Tastes smooth but feels like it lacking something.... Very drinkable just has nothing that distinguishes it

On tap. Pours a hazy, sunny gold with a thickish creamy off-white head that settles slowly. Fairly complex nose involving zesty lemon, some herbal and earthy notes, honey, a slight funky yeasty doughiness, pepper and light clove spice. Lots of sweetness that’s somewhat balanced by a lighter bitterness and a touch of tartness. Medium-heavy bodied, creamy, average carb, with a lingering toasty, tart, peppery finish. Though I would appreciate more of a drying bitter effect and maybe a touch less body to balance out the big sweetness, I thought this was a well executed brew. As saisons go, I know there are perhaps truer (and less pricy) options readily available, but this was a fun one to try on tap.

Orange peel, spices hazy orange aroma. Very interesting take on a saison. Lots of orange, mild smooth spiciness with alcohol warmth on the back of the mouth. Unique and very smooth. Doesn’t have the traditional farmhouse flavors.
3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 conway (570) - - APR 28, 2013
Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a little white head. Nose is a little weak but yeast notes are prominent. Taste is surprisingly peppery and spicy. Coriander and light citrus notes are evident. Carb is a little light and mouthfeel is a little less dry than I'd like in a saison. All in all pretty tasty and unique but a little sloppy.
