COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our version of a Polish or Baltic porter. Baltic breweries copied English porters acquired through trade in the 18th century. Intensely malty and sweet, brewed in memory of Three Floyds investor William Gardow. Served through a nitrogen tap.

Bottle as an extra from funkyaudio. Aroma and flavor is typical Baltic porter, but very good. Very smooth and enjoyable. Great beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A good porter-- I agree with some other raters that the palate here is actually one of the more remarkable aspects, really nice thick creamy feel, without being too heavy. I must say, aside from the cool bottle art, nothing about this beer is very 3F. Fairly tradiitonal porter, no especially noteable hop notes. Good stuff that would hold its own against most any other porter.

nitrotap at the brewpub....rating number 100 which happened at FFF. woohoo!.....aroma: didn’t get too much out of this one except for the presence of some roasted malts and chocolate....appearance: looked very enticing coming out of the nitro. very creamy with a nice settling effect similar to a guinness pour. decent sized tan head....taste: sweet malts, chocolate, with a nice roastedness to it. excellent mouthfeel and creamy.....would go back just to have a few more of these.

I’m not sure why this is listed as a Baltic Porter... or as a "Special," for that matter, since it’s been on & off tap for some time now. Not bad looking, especially since nitro’ed, a deep ruby body with a creamy tan head. Good lacing. But the nose and flavor are both cloyingly sweet chocolate covered dark caramel. What does that have to do with the style? Or enjoyment?

Poured off the nitro-tap at FFF. I was told that this was an aged version of the first batch. This beer poured a deep brown with ruby highlights around the edges of the glass. A thin, creamy beige head lasted forever. The sides of the glass were totally encompassed in lace. The aroma was made up of dark fruits, chocolate, and a bit of citrus hops. The flavor had a good amount of rasberry and chocolate. Also a good spicy hop finish. Towards the bottom of the glass, a very strong sweet aftertaste seems to take over. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied and very creamy. An excellent brew, but the sweetness tends to overwhelm the balance towards the end.

rating from memory, on nitro at the FFF brewpup. pours black with creamy tan head. not much in the nose, some grassy hops, light roastiness, subtle caramel. flavors of chocolate, coffee, licorice, molasses, and is pretty sweet. the flavor is rich, smooth, but sorta boring. perhaps the nitro is killing what this beer could be.

Had on tap at the brewpub on 9/29/06: Pours a transparent dark mahogany with a dense, creamy nitro head. Sweet, toasty, malty, but otherwise subtle aroma. Body starts with a sweet, viscous dark maltiness with some earthy milk chocolate and a smooth creamy finish. An enjoyable, fairly complex, Baltic porter.

GTMW. Dark brown body with creamy tan head. The aroma is roast, burnt and chocolate. The flavor is semi-sweet chocolate, coffee, roast and figs. Medium/full body with a soft ans smooth texture.

9.5 ounce nitro pour at the brewpub. Dark brown with some red highlights. Creamy nitro style head. Aroma of cookies, graham crackers, fruity and chocolate. The flavor is very fruity. Some low levels of chocolate character. Pretty creamy on the palate. It was a good beer, but why the hell are they serving this with nitro?

GTM ’06 draught. Not much aroma; dry, reminiscent of an old ale or an alt. Dark red, almost opaque. Caskish, thin tan head with an oil slick of tan on top. Must be nitro. Streaks of head on the glass. Flavor is sweet and again, like an alt or old ale. Some smoke. Somewhat Germanic character, but also not all that different from the Baltic porters I’ve had in Russia.
