A bold Scottish ale with a complex malty body derived from roasted and crystal malts balanced with just the right combination of hops. This ale pours a deep ruby color, has a sweet malty nose with layered caramel and roasted notes and a full body. Robust yet smooth, Robert The Bruce is a malt loverís delight.

Dark red beer with very little head. Aroma is slight but roasty. Beer seems lighter than expected in terms of mouthfeel. Good roast flavor not as much malt taste as expected. Good beer but, not one of the top scottish style aleís in my book

12 oz. bottle. Appearance is a very dark copper color, almost brown, with a big, fluffy tan head. Aroma is lots of sweet malts and a hint of chocolate. Taste pretty well follows the nose. Itís a tad more watery than I expected, but still good. I like it.

Bottle from Mikkeller & Friends in Copenhagen. Very malty and sweet with caramel, candy, caramelized sugar and some dried fruit. It reminds me a bit about GD Hibernation. Yet another great beer from FFF.

Nice rich Scottish. Ruby brown color. Deep caramel malts in the nose. The taste is almost creamy with some smokiness and coffee taste to compliment the caramel.

Iíve had this brew many times. Finally getting around to a review. Thanks to Dave for bringing a bottle over. The beer is dark amber with burgundy highlights. Aromas of toffee, brown sugar, yeast. Brown breads and malt with yeast and a touch of hops in the finish. Alcohol presence is moderate. Medium carbonation with a growing sweetness. This is alright.

Caramel really powers this brew. Probably the reason behind the ruby red color and the rich / smooth taste. Good brew. Not really my style but still very enjoyable.

Murky brick-red and brown color. Not a ton of head but that might be my own pour. Almost looks like a still liqueur. Very unusual aroma for a Scottish: coffee, hazelnut, plums, and raisins. There is a surprising grape sweetness at the end. Really something. The taste is nutty like a brown ale. It has more berry sweetness with a touch of breakfast blend coffee. There is a cigarette ash finish but I think itís because maybe I had a cigarette recently. The feel is chewy but also ashy. Somewhere between a brown and a Scottish ale. Somewhat dry but also has a sugary sweetness. Unique.

Havenít had a scottish ale in a while so Iím looking forward to giving this one a shot. Bottle thanks to gumballdust. Great guy to look to if you want some FFF brews. Pours a rich medium brownish red color with a nice one finger cream color head. Very nice looking beer. Aroma is hints of sweet malts, a touch of hops, caramel, and coffee beans. Nice balanced nose. Flavor is big, rich malt flavors that continue to develop on the palate long after the sip. Sweet, bready malts followed by hints of roastiness and toffee. Delicious. Mouthfeel is rich and smooth. Really enjoyable beer overall.
