3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a style compliant dark amber brown with thin tan head, minimal lacing. Aroma of toasted malt, dark dried fruits, slight caramel. Flavor matches well and is enjoyable, but nothing I am ever going to crave.

Laddy, this is a mighty fine Wee-Heavy. Super malty, has a sweetness to it that opens up the brew the longer you sip it. Lovely and not overpowering while being fit for malt heads.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours hazy reddish amber with a small beige head that dissipates leaving nice lacing behind. Aroma is not strong, but sweet and malty with caramel and toffee notes dominating, with just a touch of hay. The flavor is medium sweet, very malty but also a bit spicy - almost like rye malt, some fruitiness and biscuit notes. Spicy notes lead to a "hot" finish, almost like it was a higher ABV than 6.5%. Medium body, prickly carbonation.

Bottle from Matt and Chris Sigala as part of a wedding present. Cola brown pour with a thick off white head. Aroma is dark roasted figs. Taste is initially roasted malts, nuts, and toffee. Palate is nice and smooth (very creamy). I?m not a huge fan of this style but damn this is nicely executed.

This beer is the reason I am drinking more beers that display a nice malt body. The hay-type finish from the malts is magnificent and the ruby red finish is attractive. Thin finish is fine and weak aroma to my nose but the body is where this beer makes up a lot of ground.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
A rich Aroma of chocolate, caramel, and malt. Pours a rich brown color. This was a lightly sweet, creamy, milky, chocolate, caramel, malty, vanilla, gingerbread, and shortbread cookies all rolled into one. It has a clean rich finish, with a nice full body on your tongue. This was an exceptional beer to drink.

Pours deep ruby. Smells of caramel and pine. This is a big beer. Malty profile, caramel and toffee. Thick mouthfeel. Well balanced beer. Decent example of a Scottish ale.

On tap at Florentine in Chicago. Deep redish brown color with a tanish head. Aroma is sweet toasted malt. Taste follows with caramel and toasted brown malts. Sugary fruit as well. A very enjoyable beer, but the gold standard in this category for me is still Founders Dirty Bastard.

Had in a flight at their bar. It is a dark brown color with a thick head. Smells faintly scotchy with malts. It tastes nice and scotchy malt sweetness. Very good.

Had in a flight at three floyds brewpub. Pours dark brown with a thick head. Aroma smells like a brown ale sweet fruits and malt mostly. Taste is sweet like brown sugar and malts with a small amount of hops. Overall a good beer. Not my favorite three floyds though.
