4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Draft on tap at the Brew pub and at home in a 22 oz bomber. Orange pour with a small sticky white head. Aroma of grapefruit, pineapple, marichino cherries, orange peel and pine. Mild earth and cookie dough notes as well. Flavor is very bitter, with nice tropical and citrus fruit hops, bits of pineapple and mango in there as well. Mild spiciness from the rye comes out, albeit subtle. On the heavier side of medium bodied, finishes bitter with some strong rye notes. Nice.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber courtesy of rlgk. Pours hazy pale golden with a frothy white head that slowly dissipates while leaving a sticky trace and lacing on the glass. Smell is fruity and herbal with crackers, white bread, mixed fresh tropical fruits, alcohol, grapefruit juice, lemon zest, gooseberries, unripe currants, freshly cut grass, pine needles, resin and hints of dry wood. Taste is very tiny sweet, bitter and fruity with crackers, white bread, alcohol, tropical fruits, pine needles, resinous wood, grapefruit juice, lemon zest, grapefruit rinds, gooseberries, black pepper and hints of red currants and black currant leaves. Mouthfeel is round, slightly oily bitter, smooth, very tiny astringent and near full bodied. Finish is bitter with grapefruit rinds, lemon balm, alcohol, pine needles, resinous wood and lemon zest. Very very nice IIPA.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz bottle. Foggy orange brown with a whitish head. Nose is orange peel, musk, caramel and rye. Medium to full body with a creamy mouthfeel and a crisp tingle. Taste is somewhere between orange and grapefruit, nectarine sweetness, toffee and rye finishing a bit spicy. Vodka creeps in as it warms.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Orange/tropical fruit, bready rye malt, and caramel aroma. Cloudy orange amber with a small off-white head. Orange peel, bready and spicy rye malt, and sweet mango flavor. Full sticky body, moderate carbonation. Not a bad choice for my 50th DIPA.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from St Fun.
Pours a decent yellow si, oh yes, with a nose of banana-thin body odor hops. Flavor is a full-on assault of grapefruit rind, orange rind, and grapefruit pulp. Nice but light mouthfeel. I see his stripes andI know he’s clean; oh, can’t you see what I mean?

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating but was purchased recently. Pours extremely hazy orange amber color with a very nice 2-3 finger dense off white head with awesome retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of huge mango, pineapple, grapefruit, orange zest, caramel, rye spiciness, pine, floral, herbal, and citrus rind. Fantastic aromas with great balance of hop complexity and rye malts. Taste of pineapple, mango, grapefruit, orange zest, caramel, spicy rye, light pine, bread, floral, citrus rind, earthiness, and herbal spiciness. Good amount of earthy citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pineapple, mango, grapefruit, orange zest, caramel, bread, pine, floral, rye spiciness, citrus rind, and herbal earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Fantastic balance and complexity of hop flavors; with a very nice balance with the rye spiciness; zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a creamy, sticky, and slightly crisp mouthfeel that is very nice. Alcohol is extremely well hidden with hardly any warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a fantastic imperial Rye IPA! Great hop flavor complexity and malt balance with the rye; very smooth and easy to sip on. A highly enjoyable offering as expected.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at FFF. Pours a glowing gold, hazed with a sticky whitish head. Nose is big hops. Fresh and floral with big citrus. Juicy and fresh. Minimal grain in the nose. On tasting, big bitterness that is balanced with more of the juicy hop character. Big enough malt backbone to support it. Super fresh and hop dominant. Fantastic stuff.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle sample at a tasting at the Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks DSG. Hazy amber with white head. Hoppy aroma: pine, purple and blue, a little soapy. Very bitter, hoppy, a little dry and juicy - almost fruit juice in the end. Medium body, hoppy-bitter finish, mildly carbonated.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle although had previous times before at the brewpub from prior visits... Pour from the bottle yields a mostly solid non-transparent orangey brown consistency and topped with a fluffy lingering barely off-white head... Aroma of juicy semi-bitter tropical fruit and pithy citrus components. A hint of metallic surfaces before fading out completely which was reassuring - that an an intermixing of fruit cocktail comes to mind. A blast of pine and general dank undertones evolve late and lingers on for a bit. That note of metallic eventually comes back into the equation which was for the most part a letdown... Flavors follow suit mostly with semi-sweet juicy tropical fruit hops front and center quickly turning assertively bitter mid-palate and extending on through the finish. Just above medium bodied, somewhat full, with the right dash of carbonation. Some hints of aspirin through the middle. Malt seem to fall to the wayside but there is a spicy quality to it from the rye persuasion most likely...all in all, prob prefer the lightning more so than the tiger. A little too much firepower for me while the lightning had more of a drinkability aspect to it with a the hop assertiveness that I really enjoy.
