3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle shared thanks to Dave. Pours an attractive amber color with a white head. Aroma is of citrusy/pine hops, light grainy rye and a touch of caramel. Taste of nice resiny pine/citrus hops, sweet grainy rye notes, light toast and another solid dose of bitterness on the finish. RIP Dio......solid beer.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Another gem. 24-karat pour with hints of crimson, scarlet, and tangerine topped with an ivory foam. Candied orange, mango, papaya and guava accompanied honey-baked biscuit and spicy black pepper. Think of citrus jam spread generously across toasted marbled-rye bread. Tasty...the breakfast of champions!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a clear medium amber. Nose is peach, resin, honey and some traces of petrol. Taste is quite funky, with ripe bananas, honey, orange zest, toffee, resin. Quite weird and somewhat unbalanced.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy off orange pour w/ a thick tall well laced white head densly made up of little bubbles and dissapates into some soapy looking head. Aroma is first a big hit of citrus and fruity hop aromas. Then some sweet caramel a hint of rye comes through lightly then gets covered up by a second wave of grassy hops. Palate is rich and lightly creamy. Flavor is subtly sweet on the front some of that is probably from the Rye as well with a resinous slightly piney finish a lingering bitterness is light and balances the malty front end. Loads of piney hops in the aftertaste, not much of the fruitiness in the front that I liked so much in the nose. Thoroughly enjoyable, but lacking a bit of balance that some maturity might give it.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber. Cloudy golden body. Frothy white head, slowly diminishing. Aroma of citrus, passion fruit, melon, rye, orange peel, grapefruit rind, resin, toasted grain. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Reminds me of Dreadnaught with a rye twang. The flavors of fresh citrus fruit, sweet orange and melon get washed over by hop bitterness. Great balance. Complex. Smooth, easy to drink. Outstanding.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: NOV 27, 2012 New bobmber from the brew pub, released last week. They say this is the double version of Rye’d da Lightning, and to think of Dio while drinking. Pours a bright opaque sunset orange. Aromas of the signature Three Floyds citrius hops - Pineapple, apricot, and mango. The taste is pretty similar but you finally get a bit of the rye in there. I really think the rye is a bit toned down compare to the Lightning version, although when I tried the Lightning, it was a few weeks old so the citrius notes may have quieted down a bit. A really good DIPA, I would say this is basically a rye version of dreadnught.
