Cloudy orange with white head. Fruity nose. Pineapple flavor pulls through the army of hops. Great mouthfeel with a piney aftertaste.

Solid rye ipa from a great brewery. If you come across it try it or you will regret it.

Pours a beautiful sunset orange color with a finger length off white head. Smell is lots of pineapple, mango, grapefruit, tangerine, carmel, some rye. Smells like juicy, ripe, sweet fruits. Taste starts with the sweet fruits like pineapple, mango, tangerine. Then middle of the tongue you get the spicy rye flavor that really goes well with the nice hop flavors. Finishes with a bitter, spicy kick as well as more citrusy fruits like grapefruit and orange. Body is high medium to full. Mouthfeel is like a double ipa should be, with creamy and slick texture and moderate carbonation. The carbonation cleans the palate and gets you ready for the next sip. No alcohol was detected in the smell or taste, but the alcohol legs on the glass lead me to believe that it is a typical Floyds big beer at probably 9% or more. Very fresh, as it is a brand new release. Another insanely good ipa by Three Floyds.

It’s pouring a hazy orange with over a 2 finger head of foam..I pulled it from the fridge about an hour ago. The smell is all sorts of hoppy. Citrus, pine, volumes of tropical fruit pineapple is there for sure, and a nice spiciness from the rye. Overall, not overly bitter in the nose. And then I taste it and all of what I’ve written is there as well as a very solid malty taste that adds just the right touch of sweetness. Wow, this is very tasty and I’m not getting much, if any, of a booze burn. Full bodied with lighish carbonation, the mouthfeel is truly grand. Man, that rye really adds a great dimension to a DIPA. Thanks again, Tom! An awesome drinking experience is what I have here.

UPDATED: FEB 1, 2013 S: Intense - grapefruit sweetness, darker character from the rye, pine notes, some alc detected A: slightly haze - orange/gold with a puffy white tight small bubble head, fantastic lacing. T: Less pronounced and complex than the nose, but still excellent. Similar to their other imperials but with a more biting due to the rye, I assume. Tropical fruit sweetness, citrus fruit and rye bitterness substantial malt. A pretty bitter brew. P: Nothing wrong, lingers well O: Just a fantastic beer. On tap the taste is much better (4.7)

Draft. Large off-white head, clear amber body. Aroma is moderately sweet, grapefruit, some orange, spicy. Taste is moderately sweet, orange, rye, some grapefruit. Medium body, some resin, light acidity, nicely drinkable. (Obviously) really blown away by this one -- the flavor components mix into one tasty brew that’s exceptionally smooth and easy to drink.

Brand new beer straight from the brew pub. I had it on draft but am reviewing a bomber. This is basically a DIPA version of Rye’d da Lightning. RIP Ronnie James Dio. Served in a Duvel tulip. Pours a murky orange with a very thick off white head that slowly shrinks down and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is tropical fruit. Pineapple, apricot, orange, mango, and some pine esters. There is also some rye and caramel in there too. Maybe a bit of white pepper. This is pretty complex. Taste is grapefruit, orange, and pineapple. The rye is there as well as more caramel. It is also spicy on the end. Mouthfeel is medium and sticky and alcohol is not present at all. Excellent DIPA.

Pours orange amber with a thin white head. Lots citrus and orange on the nose with hints of rye. The taste I heavy on the orange with rye spiciness and medium heavy bitterness. Fantastic IPA overall.
