Three floyds samurai gazebo on tap at small bar division... Pours a clear medium just darker than a pils golden brown with a thin soapy head... Grassy hop with a touc of citrus on the nose... Grassy smooth with a light citrus. Very light and and easy going. Drinkable. 7/3/7/3/14

Poured on tap at the brewpub (Munster, IN). The cap on a successfull Indy trip for picking up my Lambic Reservations. Pours a nice lightly hazed golden hue, yellow and lively, a fairly thick frothy white head that laces pretty well for what it is. Aromas are a bit more potent, lemony citrus mix with light florals and a faint pine element. Firm, yet gentle. Light grainy malts beneath, lemon seems to dominate though. Initial isn’t bad, grainy malts, cereal grains, bread come in and lead way to a firm hopping for the style of citrusy lemon, grass, a faint pine, a lingering bitterness on the palate. Fairly clean, but pretty tasty for something this light bodied. As the Sorachi Ace hop was a hop developed by Sapporo originally and used in their lagers exclusively for some time, I was expecting a Pale Lager comparable to their own. However, this is fresh and lively, a better hopping. Perhaps this is what Sapporo is SUPPOSED to taste like. Either way, it’s a solid sessionable lager that is great for the warmer months coming. Cheers.

UPDATED: MAR 26, 2010 aroma is typical FFF citrus hops and hint of caramel balance. good head dissipates at moderate pace with huge lacing. translucent pour just the other side of amber. flavor is fresh cut grass and light grapefruit. bitterness coats the tongue and lingers. aroma moves to bigger malt character in time, lightly grassy and floral, the highest point of the sample.

Thanks Twitter! Hit the pub after Flossmoor Hi-Fi release. The names 3F comes up with for their beers make me think they throw darts at pages of an unabridged dictionary. Samurai Gazeebo. Suggestive of "Japanese Sapporo". Possibly. I kind of get this one. Was told by 2 servers that this is brewed with the same malt as Sapporo. Same hops, possibly. Pleasure of adding and being 1st to rate this one. Someone will probably correct the style. Sapporo is a pale lager, so I figured it works. [A] Smells pretty hoppy for a lager. ONLY reason this is receiving points. Grain. Citrus. Swirl lets off a lot more lager. Fizzy yellow aromas. Minerals. Rice. Not the greatest. [A] $5 imperial pint. Mostly clear orange with a nice dense white head. Slightly hazy. Odd characteristics for a lager. Unknown floating object in my glass. Not sure if its sediment. [F] Decent. Some breadiness. Yeast. Rice and grains. Citrus. Didn’t really get an opportunity to warm in my glass. Crisp feel, with some hops to clean and bitter the palate. Don’t know what Sorachi Ace hops taste like. Sensed some signature hops, I think. Kind of peppery to me at some point. Not sure why. Palate was fresh, but has off days, occasionally. [P] Mouth is agreeable. Thin. Well carbonated. Probably wouldn’t mind drinking this out of a bottle. Few pint glasses might be too much. [O] This was decent. Drinkable. 13 is being generous. Not the best from 3F. Styles kind of dictate potential when it comes to a great breweries. Beats Jinx and Gorch, though. Wasn’t quite worth the drive. But nice for the session. Menu said it was experimental. Wouldn’t count on it being on tap too far into the future. Otherwise, I might try it again. But Scarf Patrol and Fruity Klaus surprised me as repeats. Now if I could only catch the elusive Stay in School....

Golden pour with big, thick white head. Aroma of tropical fruit, and spicy, meaty malt. Hoppy, fruity flavor with a somewhat spicey malt. Lots of hops in this. Sorachi Ace hop has an interesting character. Kind of a minty, fruity, herbal vibe. Medium mouthfeel, creamy texture, with lightly bitter finish. Three Floyds can make an awesome lager.
