Aroma:The nose is subtle on this beer. There is mild fruitiness, maybe apple and apricot. There is also some mild hop bitterness. Appearance:Clear golden color with medium head retention. Taste:The beer is pleasantly fruity, with apricot and exotic hops. Palate:A pleasant creaminess stays with you through the mid and aftertaste. Overall:A great sessionable beer, that’s not at all typical of Three Floyds.

On tap in the Three Floyd’s pub on Dark Lord Day. Pours a hazy brown with a medium sized white head. Musky hops, slightly floral. Medium bodied, sweet and crisp. Crisp wheat and malt, earthy musky hops. Clean wheat bitterness. Yummy stuff.

Had on tap at FFF. Served in an imperial pint glass. A: Pours a hazy amber color with lighter golden edges. A thick head of white foam forms on the pour and leaves sticky sheets of lace down the glass. S: Nice light hoppy FFF profile is up front. The sweetness of the rice pops up and sticks around for the body of each smell. As the beer goes on I get some nice tangerine flesh as well. T: Light fruity hops are up front like the nose and the rice takes over. It’s a like the sticky white rice that comes in sushi. The finish is a mix of sweet white rice and semi bitter orange pith. M: Light to medium bodied with a nice crisp mouthfeel. Nice carbonation and the finish is creamy and sweet. O: Hands down the best rice lager I’ve ever had. That’s not really saying much, but this is very well put together beer. Incredibly balanced. If you have the option of trying it please do. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 05-07-2012

UPDATED: MAY 6, 2012 Had this one in a growler brought home from fff. This is one of the most interesting beers I have ever had. The appearance is great, nice and clear. Beautiful gold color. The aroma is sort of odd for me. There certainly are a lot of grassy and floral notes in the scent. That might the biggest negative for me. The flavor is super cool though. I get a really cool lemon thing, presumably from the sorachi ace hops. What I like about it is that the lemon is more of a creamy version than a cloying forced lemon flavor. Super refreshing and delicious. I love this one!

On draft at the brewpub DLD 10. Pours a clear copper with a medium sized white head. Aroma of faint floral tones, grassy notes and lemon tea. Taste is much the same as the aroma with a lemony iced tea flavor. Nice.

On tap at the brewery, served in an English pint. Pours clear amber with a tall frothy, off-white head. Head slowly fades but leaves incredible lace. On the nose, crisp lemon, pine, herbs, grass, straw, bubble gum and apple. On the tongue, it starts out moderately sweet and lightly acidic. As it lingers, it loses a bit of the sweetness and acquires a more acidic character. The finish is long and lagery, recapitulating the hops. On the palate, light-medium in body with a watery texture and soft carbonation. Overall, it is a crisp and refreshing summer beer with lager smoothness and a distinctively lager finish. The aroma is way out there and very inviting. I love the Sorachi Ace hops. An excellent choice for a patio on a warm day! 2010-05-15

Why hello there, interesting one-off Three Floyds beer at Hopleaf in Chicago. Yes, I would like to drink you. I like your hazy orange-golden pour with a generous white head. Nose is lemony, almost like bathroom cleaner but not in a bad way. Dry lemon, like a Boylan’s dry lemon club soda. Mild sweetness. Some lemongrass. Dry. Fascinating.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2012 Muddy, bright orange with fair, creamy, white head / Sour, malty, and fruity nose / Medium to full body, moderately sour, sweet and malty, soft carbonation, with decent hop balance and finish / Flavors of mango, orange, rice, sour malt, and caramel / Indifferent about this creation, but is well done.

Had a pint of this on Dark Lord Day and was impressed. This has to be, by far, the tastiest premium lager i have had. The hops just permeate. The beer is hazy golden and the rice comes into the nose along with those hops. They were floral and herbal and took this beer to another level. I love FFF and this beer is another winner from them.
