3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
From a trade. Deep orange. Nose of light grapefruit. Fairly malty, balanced, nice citrus and some pine. Solid, but not their best stuff. Not much belgian anything here, nor imperial IPA-ness even.

Fucking solid. I am into cursing on ratebeer lately, so you can deal with it. Good times here in drinking.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
bottle shared with EricTeusink. Great label. Pours darker clear orange with ample off white head. Taste was heavily bitter, orange, other citrus, some fruitiness, a bit of spiciness. The Belgian aspect was not over the top, which for the most part is a good thing for me. Good beer.

Live a Rich Life, have been saving this since it was first released. Wow, aroma is hops forward, spice, grapefruit and citrus, taste is citrus, grapefruit, bittersweet, Belgian yeast, wow! short to medium aftertaste, alcohol is somewhat present but pleasing. Good beer! Would definitely recommend. Also some nice spice! FFF knows how to make APA’s but there DIPA’s are amazing!

Bottle pour clear copper with moderate white head. Nose dank hop, toffee sweet malt, some of fruit hop. Taste moderate strong bitter up front. Dank hop carries through. Mold mid palate balancing sweetness. Long lasting bitter finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
13 ounce pour on tap at Lone Wolf in Chicago. It smells like a big dIPA, pine and grass hops. Orange and bubbly appearance, good amount of white foam. The taste wrapped together the malts and hops pretty nicely, pineapple and bitterness at the end. Much less punchy flavorwise than most Imperial IPAs, very drinkable, no hop daggers or tongue bombing going on. Medium bodied, well carbonated mouthfeel. Overall I like it but I doubt I'd go hunting it down.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: MAY 14, 2014 Served: 22 oz bottle
Look: pours a deep copper color. Thick head about 1 finger that hangs around a while. A little cloudy but mainly from the carbination.
Smell: sour smell to it. Also notes of tropical fruit, mangos and pineapples. Strong smell of alcohol as it warms up.
Taste: bitter taste. Good amount of pepper, lighter citrus fruit.
Feel: light beer, good carbination.
Overall: not bad, too bitter for me. No noticeable flavors in the beginning.
First drank: home Decatur April 3 2014

Cloudy, yellow gold. Pine resin, grass, quite strong aroma. Strongly bitter, but quickly turns to sweetness that balances the bitterness. Thick, oily quite alcoholic. Delicious, very good.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
On tap in Cleveland (OH)
A second guest tap was even better than the first. Three Floyds are no strangers to making world class IPAs. This one is much more blunt and to the point yet still retains a nice tropical aspect that makes it drinkable without too much fatigue. I would love to get my hands on a fresh bottle.
Aroma / Appearance - Orange marmalade fills the glass with a cloudy core. Rich white head billows up and out with bursts of mango, grapefruit, and citrus pushing towards a hoppy conclusion. The intensity is packed in so well that it never feels abrasive.
Flavor / Palate - Mango, grapefruit, and citrus are the main drivers of a strong hop driven imperial IPA. Tropical aspects also present themselves as it moves towards the throat. A long lasting intensity that sticks in the back of the throat refreshes the palate with a slight orange sweetness. Much like Dreadnaught this is best enjoyed fresh as soon as you get home.
