COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION A collaboration/dedication ale brewed with our friend Urbain from the Belgian brewery De Struise, this intense Belgian-style double IPA was fermented with Urbain’s special yeast and then an amazing amount of hops were added. This beer was brewed in loving memory of a former employee, Rich Sheppard, who recently passed away, a portion of the proceeds from this beer will go to his family. Cloudy, yellow gold. Pine resin, grass, quite strong aroma. Strongly bitter, but quickly turns to sweetness that balances the bitterness. Thick, oily quite alcoholic. Delicious, very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A second guest tap was even better than the first. Three Floyds are no strangers to making world class IPAs. This one is much more blunt and to the point yet still retains a nice tropical aspect that makes it drinkable without too much fatigue. I would love to get my hands on a fresh bottle.

Aroma / Appearance - Orange marmalade fills the glass with a cloudy core. Rich white head billows up and out with bursts of mango, grapefruit, and citrus pushing towards a hoppy conclusion. The intensity is packed in so well that it never feels abrasive.

Flavor / Palate - Mango, grapefruit, and citrus are the main drivers of a strong hop driven imperial IPA. Tropical aspects also present themselves as it moves towards the throat. A long lasting intensity that sticks in the back of the throat refreshes the palate with a slight orange sweetness. Much like Dreadnaught this is best enjoyed fresh as soon as you get home.

Bottle purchased at Blacklick Wine & Spirits. Clear amber in color with a huge beige head. Aroma of sweet malt, pine, caramel, orange and slight Belgian yeast esters. Malty and caramelly flavor with subtle banana esters before a piney and earthy hop finish.

Enjoyed on tap at Bangers & Lace in Chicago, IL on a gorgeous spring Saturday. I didn’t take tasting notes while enjoying this, but I remember this as a cloudy gold with a moderate white head, with notes of coriander, spice, light fruit, and light pine. Overall enjoyable.

Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, thanks to Paulo, 27/03/14. Hazed orange amber with a moderate off white covering. Nose is juicy hops, pine resin, bitter orange, caramel malt, pineapple chunks. Taste comprises bitter orange pithdom, pine bite, sweet lickings, candied orange peel, straw, earthy hops. Medium + body, fine carbonation, light booze laced tropicana in the finale. Decent DIPA if a touch overly boozey.

A confused beer with lack of balance between the two styles. Belgian styles comes through a little more then the ipa style. Being a hop head wished it had a bigger hop nose on it.

Draft. Amber color with a whit head. Soft citrus and pine hop smells. Bitter hop that fades to malt then explodes to a killer bitterness.

A: Pours a hazy copper, dark orange in color. Nice thick head with good head retention. S: Juicy grapefruit, orange, pine, and fresh cut apple. Some cream, soapiness, and mild alcohol heat is detectable. Smells fresh and tropical. T: Upfront you get bready then some grapefruit, orange, pine, and hints of lemon. Didn’t really get anyone of that Belgian character, perfectly okay with me. M: Medium-full bodied, crisp. O: A pretty solid beer, not one that I will really crave however.
