COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION A collaboration/dedication ale brewed with our friend Urbain from the Belgian brewery De Struise, this intense Belgian-style double IPA was fermented with Urbainís special yeast and then an amazing amount of hops were added. This beer was brewed in loving memory of a former employee, Rich Sheppard, who recently passed away, a portion of the proceeds from this beer will go to his family. UPDATED: MAR 17, 2014 22 oz bomber poured into a Belgian tulip glass. A fully rounded, bright citrus, peach, and pine hop aromas come through off the start of this one. The citrus notes come through as orange, tangerine, and grapefruit. A prevalent candi sugar makes itself known as the head start to recede. Some light, mellow spice / herbal notes, sweet caramel syrup, and a touch of creamer also come through to round off the aroma. The beer has a clear, honey-orange appearance (a bit of haze comes through near the end of the bottle) topped by a big, rocky and frothy, yellow-orange head which reduced to a messy, but ample, fluffy layer. The taste is a nice balance between medium-high levels of both sweetness and bitterness; neither of which is obnoxious or overwhelming, and they both cut and compliment each other nicely. The medium-full body is loaded with soft, fluffy carbonation, helping the beer to go down creamy and smooth. The mouth is mostly caramel syrup (quite sugary), sweet orange citrus, peach, and bitter grapefruit and lemon citrus. It finishes dry, and somewhat crisp with pine, lemon, and a resin touch. For as rich and full as the mouth was, the finish is relatively clean; it mellows out nicely. The aftertaste has a spiciness to it with pine and toasted grain.

Pours a golden color with a good head and nice lacing on the glass.

The aroma is fruity forward and lightly sweet smelling. Iíts got a good bit of pineapple and a mold alcohol presence.

The flavor is fruity & hop forward, itís got a really pleasant bitterness. Pineapple, citrus rind, booze & spiciness. A touch high on the booze, but overall pretty good.

Bottle. Copper/amber with an off white head. Aroma is tropical fruit and caramel malt. Taste follows suit and adds some citrus and serious hop bitterness. Thick mouthfeel and relatively mild carb. Highly enjoyable.

Fresh on tap. A big, fruit forward IPA with some nice Belgian zest that represents both brewers' strengths.

Bottle from rxeight - thanks! Bottling date 02/10/2014. Pours hazy amber with a large beige head that dissipates slowly and laces well. Aroma has notes of pine, citrus, caramel, and some spicy yeast going. Flavor is about the same, fairly malty, medium sweet, light bitter, and a definite Belgian feel. Decent enough, but not really out of the box. Medium plus body, creamy mouthfeel.
