An American pale ale was brewed with our friends and co-political activists at Sun King Brewing Co. This beer was brewed to raise awareness about our legislative push to redefine what a micro brewery is in Indiana. Under 2010 law, small breweries were limited to 20,000 barrels. Thanks to the work of Sun King and other Indiana craft brewers this was raised to 30,000 barrels on April 11, 2011. Although this is a great gain more work needs to be done with legislature to help craft beer grow in Indiana. Call your representative to let them know what valuable small businesses craft breweries are.

Draft sample at SK. Poured a clear copper color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate earthy hop and small malt aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. I would recommend this to a freind.

On tap at DLD ’11. A refreshing pale here. Although this is a collaboration ale, 3Fs hops are clearly showcased here. Body is hazy and golden orange, with a pillowy off-white head. There are a lot of similarities here with the Dreadnaught second running, though the 3 kings has a fuller body. Quite fruity and citrusy in general, there are also so decent notes of light grass, herb, and buttery grains. Not bad overall, with a good hop profile, but slightly one sided in the same regard.

A decent and well rounded pale ale. Had this after Zombie Dust and it doesn’t compare at all. I was a little disappointed with this beer especially with all the hype surrounding it. Good nonetheless, just not great.

On tap at the brewpub during Dark Lord Day 2011. Pours a clear, golden-yellow colored body with a finger-width, frothy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a nice lacing throughout. Aroma is very floral and citrusy with lots of sweeter tangerines and some grapefruit-lemons. Solid caramel sweetness to balance with a touch of bread. Some light piney resins as well. Flavor is similar. Big time floral citrus up front with some juicy tangerines and grapefruits. A light lemon in there too. Sweeter pale malts and caramels to balance while remaining light. Finishes with a medium-light, floral, somewhat piney, juicy citrus that dries and leaves a lengthy aftertaste. Lighter body and a moderately lively, crisp carbonation. Overall, a very nice pale ale. Lots of citrusy florals and an easy drinking, crisp body. Fresh, hoppy, and fairly juicy with lots of flavor. Nice beer.

aroma is hops, sweet, citrus. one finger head disipates to thin ring. Straw color, clear, nice head, semi cloudy. High hops, low malt. Woody, piney, and citrus taste. Palate is crisp, clear, and refreshing. This one was different with the piney and citrus taste. A must try!

Growler thanks to Stfun. Hazy golden pour with think head. Aroma is citrus, clove and spices. Taste is grassy with some citrus and banana notes. Reminds me more of a hefeweizen than a pale. Good flavor and very enjoyable.
