I was not as impressed with this beer as I am with 3Fs other beers. Nose is roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Body is dark black brown with almost no head. Taste is bitter and of dark chocolate, roasted coffee beans, and malt. Good but I was not blown away.

Draft 8 oz. "mini-shaker" at 3Fs. Thin but noticeably brown head atop a porter to stout dark body. A sharp coffee smell I haven’t found in the Baltic strain of porter before. Flavor is strong with coffee hard candies, but still a bit of lager cleanness. Threads of semi-sweet chocolate chips. Can’t say it goes down easy; I had to wrestle it a little. But when it finally yields, it does so nicely.

UPDATED: JUN 17, 2008 On tap at FFF’s.Worth the three hour drive. Chocolate and coffee stand out and hide the high ABV.

Good porter from 3F (on tap at the brewery) but didn’t enjoy nearly as much as the Alpha Klaus. More of a true baltic porter in that it did not have the characteristic citrus flavors of 3F. Good blend of chocolate and malt and mouthfeel was decent. Also very smooth for carrying a high ABV. As usual, a winner and would drink again, but they set the bar so high with their great beers, that I don’t put this near the top of the list.

on tap at 3f. gotta give a shot to 3f for serving their beer in poor glasswear...who serves their beer in a juice glass? wtf??? fortunately, the beer was real good. dry, chocolatey, warming going down.

On tap at the brewpub during DLD ’08. Pours black with a thin skin of beige bubbles at the surface. The nose is dry, peaty roasted malt, cocoa and coffee. Medium to full-bodied and oily with soft prickly carbonation and a warm, roasty finish. Peaty chocolate roasted malt with a mild leather-like note at the finish. Another fine brew from Three Floyds.
