22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a thick tan cap. Nose is grass, pine and coffee grounds. Holy crap! First sip is creamy then it smacks you with a bitter, zesty tang, almost like a seltzer. Veins of syrupy sweetness add to an already impressive mouth trip. Taste a similar explosion of pine, kiwi and coffee mellowing into mocha and plum. Lingering spicy finish. Kick ass stout.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark brown pour with a fine tan head. Lots of lacing left on the snifter.
Aroma is grassy hops, a hint of roasty malt. A little floral as the beer warms up.
Flavor is roasty malt sweetness balanced by a nicely bitter hop finish. A little bit of grassy floral hop flavor in the finish. Some lemony notes.
Mouthfeel is a little thin, medium carbonation. Slightly astringent finish.
Very enjoyable. Not what I would call world class. The thin mouthfeel detracted from the overall quality of the beer.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber. Pours a very dark brown, almost pitch black with a finger of effervescent, chocolatey head that dissipates quickly. A HUGE amount of lacing. Aroma is chocolate, alcohol, caramel, roasted malt, coffee and a very well hidden hop presence. Delicious. The alcohol is present, but perfectly balanced with everything else. Mouth is very boozy up front with coffee, roasted malt and chocolate. Citrus hops definitely come into play here. Absolutely delicious. Three Floyds has definitely upped the ante with this brew.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Black with big, creamy, foamy, brown head, good legs / Unusual, herbaceous nose of weed, dandelion, pine, roast barley, baking spice, bread / Medium to full body, smooth & creamy, mostly dry with some astringency, good fruit but could be fuller, with bitter finish / Flavors of dark roast coffee, unsweetened chocolate, roast grain, pine, weed, with notes of caramel, date / A little over roasted and hopped, such that the body fruit doesn’t quite hold up, but still a fine stout.

Great balance, smooth taste, burnt flavor. Touch of hops, but not overpowering. My wife likes it.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a very dark brown with a medium, creamy looking tan head. The aroma is unusual. It contains coffee, caramel, and some chocolate. Additonally, there is lots of citrus notes of grapefruit and orange. Taste continues along the odd first impressions. There is plenty of chocolate, licorice, and some coffee, along with grapefruit and pine as well. Aftertaste is chocolate, licorice, and some big pine flavors. It lasts a long time. Although it isn’t the strongest, the alcohol content makes itself readily known. Medium bodied, with a chewy texture, with some surprisingly lively carbonation. What a strange beer. It might be mistaken for a black IPA actually with the different things going on in here. But the only thing that matters is that its really good. Get this if you find it.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber from my most recent trip to Munster. Pours an opaque stouty blackish-brown with a thick espresso colored head, crazy lacing. Nose is roast and coffee, some citrus-hoppy 3-Floydness. Relatively dry and mainly a lot of roasted barley mingling with hops and coffee (i.er. it tastes like the nose) On a side note: if it wasn’t from 3Fs, I probably wouldn’t drink something that has the words ’municipal waste’ included on the label... let alone the word ’toxic’... but they get a free pass. This wasn’t anything mind-blowing (particularly considering the source brewer) , but still a nice stout.
