Pours black with a big, tan head that dissipates into a cap. Had a mild aroma, which included roasted malts and citrus notes. Taste is heavily bitter, what a shocker from FFF, and the roasted malt flavor in the middle. Medium bodied beer which leaves a long grapefruit finish. In a blind taste test, I would think this was a Black IPA.

22oz. Bottle. Pitch black pour in my Allagash chalice. Nose is all pine hops witcfaint chocolate hiding underneath. Flavor is all resin hops with a very faint traces of chocolate. How can they call this a stout? It taste like a very piney hoppy Black.IPA. meh

Pours light black. Nice head. Pine cone on the nose. Espresso and grapefruit. This is a black IPA. Not a stout

Pour is a dark black with a little bit of red around the edges, and a light mocha head. Lots of toasted malt on the nose, roasted coffee, some light floral hoppy notes coming through and some milk chocolate. More dark coffee comes through on the taste, there’s a nice hop bite to it as well, some nice toasty malt, and hints of chocolate. Well rounded, medium bodied. Quite tasty.

Black oour with minimal tan head. Dark, malty with hop, and some soy sauce. Taste is lighlty roasty and smooth with some chocolate. Easy drinking.

22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a thick tan cap. Nose is grass, pine and coffee grounds. Holy crap! First sip is creamy then it smacks you with a bitter, zesty tang, almost like a seltzer. Veins of syrupy sweetness add to an already impressive mouth trip. Taste a similar explosion of pine, kiwi and coffee mellowing into mocha and plum. Lingering spicy finish. Kick ass stout.

Dark brown pour with a fine tan head. Lots of lacing left on the snifter.
Aroma is grassy hops, a hint of roasty malt. A little floral as the beer warms up.
Flavor is roasty malt sweetness balanced by a nicely bitter hop finish. A little bit of grassy floral hop flavor in the finish. Some lemony notes.
Mouthfeel is a little thin, medium carbonation. Slightly astringent finish.
Very enjoyable. Not what I would call world class. The thin mouthfeel detracted from the overall quality of the beer.

On tap at Three Floyds, Black pour with a thin tan head. Aroma of coffee and almost roasted coconut. Taste is chocolate malt and piney dry hop finish

Bomber. Pours a very dark brown, almost pitch black with a finger of effervescent, chocolatey head that dissipates quickly. A HUGE amount of lacing. Aroma is chocolate, alcohol, caramel, roasted malt, coffee and a very well hidden hop presence. Delicious. The alcohol is present, but perfectly balanced with everything else. Mouth is very boozy up front with coffee, roasted malt and chocolate. Citrus hops definitely come into play here. Absolutely delicious. Three Floyds has definitely upped the ante with this brew.

Black with big, creamy, foamy, brown head, good legs / Unusual, herbaceous nose of weed, dandelion, pine, roast barley, baking spice, bread / Medium to full body, smooth & creamy, mostly dry with some astringency, good fruit but could be fuller, with bitter finish / Flavors of dark roast coffee, unsweetened chocolate, roast grain, pine, weed, with notes of caramel, date / A little over roasted and hopped, such that the body fruit doesn’t quite hold up, but still a fine stout.
