UPDATED: DEC 4, 2013 Bottle: super deep; essentially black, huge and frothy tan head that lasts forever; chunky lacing left all over the glass. Aroma is light grassy hop, earthy wood, roasty malt, dark cocoa notes, a touch of nuttiness, and very very timid dark fruits. Taste is chocolate malt forward with a light nutty, earthy, and woodsy character. Some light milky notes, enough to balance the roast nicely. Good amount of hops, not enough to distract. Mouth feel could be thicker.

Bottle at Craft Heads, Shibuya. Pitch black - offwhite head. Licorice. Light coffee notes. Nutty. High burned malts. Carcoal. Fruity notes. Ok hoppy. Medium bitterness. Nice dryness. Lovely.

Deep black, medium heavy body, with pretty persistent ringing. Nose is burnt malts, anise. Ashy malts with anise dry. Complex with something going on I can’t quite pin down...probably that 3 Floyds magic.

Bottle as shown .. . Black screen .. Mild foam, lacing .. . Toast and burnt pie crust .. . Light mouth, abv is well masked .. . Decent but underwhelming .. . . I hate that. I worked out my legs on Sunday and I’ve been waddling around my office all week. Pretty sure my co-workers think I spent my weekend getting pounded in the ass.

Bottle, thanks manbrognig74! Pours dark black with a large brown puffy cloudy head that eventually dissipates leaving nice, if clumpy, lacing. Aroma is roasty chocolate. Flavor is the same, with some anise, light sweet and medium bitter, lingering bitter finish. Medium body, some ABV burn. Quite a bit of acidity, almost like coffee was added. Decent.

Had at the BGoA Winter tasting. Pours a dark brown. Slight tan head. Malt and roast on the nose slightly sweet and smooth. Very dry. Very nice beer.

Poured from a bottle purchased at the brewery 10 months ago into a 3F pint glass a very dark black with a thick dark beige head. Aroma very slight coffee and heavy cocoa. Flavor is nutty malted cocoa. Some bitterness due to this being a more hoppy stout which so works. Balanced nicely. Really love this brew--ALOT. Not like every other over sweet stout yet very smooth and drinkable.

22 oz. bottle. Had it fresh and then just opened a bottle. Pours a rich dark brownish black with a small tan head. Aroma of chocolate, mild roast, some coffee and cocoa notes. It was more hop forward fresh, the older bottle has mild oxidation. Medium bodied, somewhat pillowy mouthfeel, Finishes a bit on the sweet end. For the love of god stop aging beers, nerds.

Tasted from a bomber purchased at the brewpub. It poured a deep, dark brown with a frothy, light brown head and a pungent chocolate malt aroma. Smooth with a slightly bitter hop taste. Chocolate notes are subtle in this very tasty Stout Ale. Another fine effort from Three Floyds.
