3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle poured into nonic. Hazy golden-orange with floaties and a stiff finger plus of white head that lasts nearly the entire drink. Some streaky lacing. Aroma is citrus hop, grapefruit, bready malt, maybe a hint of caramel. Taste is medium bitterness with citrus and floral notes, spicy rye (some say onion; I don’t get that), and light sweetness from that bready/caramel character. Medium bodied, slick, resinous texture, moderate to soft carbonation, bitter drying finish.

Bottle shared by Damian and Lona. Pours a hazy golden with a ring of off white head. Aroma is of fresh hops and citrus. Taste of oranges and hops. Really good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Had on tap at 3 Floyds. Flavors of hops, pine, and citrus. Fairly sweet and fruity mid-palate. Solid but my least favorite of the 4 double IPAs that I had at 3 Floyds.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from 22oz bottle. Very light and clear in color. Intense initial citrus hop aroma. Flavor has a bitter mango hit similar to what I expect from 3 Floyd’s IPA’s.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Solid beer from 3floyds. Has the signature 3floyds aroma and hop, simpler than dreadnought. Thought the place would have permanent funeral on tap, ended up with this and was still happy

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap. Hazy pale body. Huge pungent aroma. Almost like onion. Big hoppy flowery taste. This beer is just about the pungent hop taste. Not much of a malt presence at all. Reminds me of a single summit hop beer I made last year.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Tap @ Mikkeller Bar
S – Citrus, pure hop pellets, very earthy, but somegrapefruit, bitter smelling
T – Not very balanced, mostly bitter, a bit fruitiness.
M – Quite full mouthfeel, it works though.
O – All Three Floyds IPAs from Mikkeller Bar taps have been disappointing, probably very old and in bad condition.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Orange. Stuffy nose so I’m not too sure about aroma. Flavor is blood orange, dry, hint of cracker, bitter. A pretty solid 3F offering.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap at Mikkeller and Friends. Hazy amber with a small white head. Fruity and floral hoppy aroma, a little tired though. Sweet malty flavour with pine hops and a rather bitter finish

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 ounce bottle
A typical Midwestern imperial IPA could easily be the marquee beer for many smaller breweries. For Three Floyd’s it falls squarely in the middle of a competitive lineup of hop driven high gravity releases. At $11.99 I am happy with the one bottle but would definitely add it to my list of fallbacks if the other drafts at a bar did not sound appealing.
Aroma / Appearance - A rich white head billows until the glass is mostly full of foam. A creamy orange core eats into it from below. Grapefruit, citrus, and bright hops sparkle with a bitter freshness. A typical hop forward release smashes the senses with little subtlety.
Flavor / Palate - Full bodied creamy liquid washes over the tongue. Seeking out the corners of the mouth it fills them with bitterness that lasts an eternity. Residual candy like yeast sticks in the throat after a wave of grapefruit and citrus assaults the tongue. A middle of the road imperial IPA for Three Floyd’s could be great for fans of hop bombs.
