Smells like an IPA, looks like an IPA, tastes like an IPA. Standard and nothing special. Hoppy, hoppy, and more hoppy with a malt that doesnt stand up. If it was about 30% cheaper, it MIGHT be a good buy.

Thanks to Matt for the bottle! First time having this since it was bottled. Poured into a Portsmouth tulip. Clear, reddish-orange body with a little over one fingers worth of foamy white head. Good lacing. Malty grapefruit-candy on the nose. Orange zest. Nice use of Citra hops. The flavor consists of a crispy caramel malt backbone, which supports a nice mixture of dry orange wedge, orange pith and leafy hop juice. Body is malty up front, but clean and hoppy on the finish. Good carbonation. Overall, this is an excellent APA and definitely deserves it’s top 10 ranking for the style. I remember this being slightly better when I last had it, but that was from a super fresh growler. Still highly recommended.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20

Bottle shared at RBWG 2012. Pours a cloudy orange with small quickly diminishing white head. The aroma is a floral hop and grass. Thin mouthfeel with a strong hop and pine. Easy to drink a very good American pale ale.

From notes. First reviewed 6/21/2011. Served on tap at Northdown in a pint glass.
The pint glass is full of a slightly hazy, full colored brew. Tangerine, gold, and orange colors all make their presence known. A smooth white cap glosses the top of the beer, preserving the aromatic qualities of the Citra hop.
Sweet pale malt and a full dose of citrus - sweet juicy pineapple, lots of grapefruit, and some mango hoppiness. Fairly simple, yet a wonderful nose. Slightly pungent on the back end.
The light malt sweetness up front is pleasant and sets the stage for the hops to come through. Juicy pineapple, grapefruit, and mango emerge from the huge burst of tropical and citrus flavors. The great flavor makes me hardly notice the bitterness. The finish is fairly clean, with some residual bitterness.
This has a very balanced mouthfeel - light enough to be dangerously drinkable, but with enough body to give the hops a platform to operate. Smooth, creamy, and medium carbonated.
Citra is simply a fantastic hop, and there is not a brewery out there I trust to make a great hoppy beer with a fantastic mouthfeel. Right now I feel very fortunate that I am able to drink this on tap.
From notes. Reviewed 11/8/2011 on cask. Gravity pour out of a fresh cask at Fountainhead in a pint glass.
Zombie Dust arrives in a pint glass with a beautiful cask pour; a lightly hazy, mostly clear golden tangerine color with a rocky off-white rocky froth casually resting on top, an obvious reminder of the serving type.
The aroma is a little bit muted compared to the bottle or tap versions, but it is still full of hoppy goodness. The pale malts give a soft sweet and bready back, with aromatic mango, pineapple, and grapefruit hops shining through.
Somehow, the flavor is even better than the regular tap version. Softly sweet bread and light grains cannot contain a sweet, juicy hop explosion that builds, peaks, and finishes without a single wasted IBU. The mango, pineapple, and papaya flavors work well with the sweetness, with a flash of tart and bitter grapefruit kick near the end. The most amazing thing is just how smooth this flavor is.
The carbonation is obviously on the very light side, there is just enough to excite the taste buds. A hop bitterness leaves a bit of hop residue behind my lips, and the overall sensation is creamy and smooth.
As a hophead, I love any version of this beer. It is even better on cask, and I am slowly realizing I might be a cask IPA fanatic.

Bright golden pour with a small white head. Left some spotty lace. Aroma was in classic FFF fashion, juicy citrus jumped out of the glass. Dry hopped to the gills, smelled fantastic. Flavors were also filled with citrus fruits, lightly bitter with a grapefruitiness that lingered. Very drinkable, this thing dripped with hop oils. I really enjoy well done single hopped IPAs, really lets you know what to expect from a hop. This was well done.

Can’t believe I haven’t rated this yet. Yep, it’s a good beer. Typical 3F: hoppy with some malt balancing out. Surprisingly easy to drink a six or more of this in a night. Smooth, a bit bubbly, clear. Worth picking up.

[4263-20120120] 12floz bottle. Sweaty orange flesh hops aroma has a touch of tangerine and grapefruit. Slightly hazy, light orange brown body with a long-lasting creamy off-white head with a bit of lacing. Bitter lemon-tangerine-grapefruit hops flavour has a nice sweaty citrus base. Medium body is pretty bitter. Tasty, can stave off dead bodies, good. (8-/4/7/4/16) 3.9

Color is light straw and hazy. The head is poured with about a quarter inch of white foam. The aroma is full of spicy hops with a dash of citrus. The taste has honeydew and cucumber, with a nice bitter piney finish. The mouthfeel is light with some nice crisp carbonation.
