3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUL 13, 2012 10 rating. Iím in, team tubes. Pours a deep red, rusty color with an initially large head that fade fast. Piney hops in the nose. Taste is bitter, mouthfeel is slick and slightly chewy. Strong malty backbone. Decent amber ale, but slightly overpriced (all 3HB beers are) and not outstanding. Having said that, this is hands down the best beer made in Rochester, NY.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours deep blood orange into a Sam glass. Off-white head with excellent retention recedes leaving spot lacing to coat surface. Sweet resin and tropical fruit aromas. Medium bodied with sweet caramel upfront turning to bitter grapefruit and resin in the lasting finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours deep amber with bitter hop notes. Nice lacing leads into a caramel, dense grain, toasted notes, and mild hop bitterness. Finishes with a nice deep flavor.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22 oz. bottle. Pours a clear red with a moderate tan head that lasted through the first quarter of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of crystal malt along with a few citrusy notes. The flavor is malt with a bit of caramel followed by a wash of moderate grapefruit pith bitterness along with a bit of pine. The initial smoothness from the oatmeal is more than offset by the hops wash. Medium bodied.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Sticky Lips BBQ in Henrietta, NY.
Clear, nearly opaque deep mahogany with thin creamy head and excellent lacing.
Aroma of pine and citrus with hints of smokey malt.
Taste is hoppy of grapefruit and pine. Caramel malt occasionally sneaks around the hops. A bit of peppery spice also comes through. Not overly bitter. Rather nice.
Medium full mouthfeel with a fine tingling carbonation.
Tasty beer. Reminds me of a black IPA, but with more of an oatmeal character.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Three Heads Loopy is a very clear, sparkling copper ale with a thick, lumpy, off white head that has great retention and lacing. It has a hoppy, grassy aroma with a resiny sweetness. Itís medium bodied, a little chalky at the finish. It has good balance. Itís pretty bitter, but appropriately so. Thereís just a very slight hint of sweetness. It tastes grassy, fruity and it seems just a touch roasty. The aftertaste is long and bitter. The oatmeal adds mostly a texture to it. Interesting idea. Itís a stand-up red ale.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours a clear ruby amber with a large creamy yellowed beige head. Crisp and clean citrus on the nose, hoppy and bright, not overly pungent though. Medium bodied, smooth and lightly sweet. Picks up a faint metallic tinge, oatmeal smoothing out everything, earthy with some dank hoppiness. The creamy sweet body is an interesting change from the standard red ale. Balanced fairly well, gentle hoppy bitterness on the finish, almost the faintest hint of cocoa as well. Easy drinking.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber. Pours red and orange with a frothy beige head. Floral and herbal hoppiness with some biscuit notes. The flavor is spicy floral hops and citrus rind, with some malty sweetness. Average mouthfeel, verging on creamy. Nice.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber to a pint glass. Pours copper to scarlet. Limited, soapy head. Lot of hops on the nose, with some citrus. Not sure where the oatmeal comes in, and not quite sure how this is an "Amber Ale". Iíd call it a red IPA, and a pretty good one.

draft at Coles, Buffalo NY. deeper amber crimson pour. Big malty nose, some citrus hops. Bready maltiness, toasty. Oatmael adds a nice touch. Not a huge fan of amber but this is a pretty good one
