Dark reddish-brown pour withg brown head. Aroma is roasted malt and piny hops. Taste is roasted malt, a little metallic, hops are so-so. Nice lacing.

Combination of draft and 22 oz. bottle. Draft at Sunset Grill. Pint glass shows off-white, fluffy head setting on deep mahogany liquid. Some lace. Nose of roasted malt aroma with piney and herbal hops. Flavors of charred malts, caramel and black malts and extremely resinous herbal hops. Lingering pine hops that goes on and on. Medium body. My personal taste has this being off balance with too much pine resin and I didn’t get chocolate malt, more burnt notes. The bottle didn’t impress me either.

Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a huge foamy brown head that lingered forever and left great lacing. The aroma was roasty and toasty malts with strong floral hops, grapefruit and resin. The flavor was roasty malts, cocoa, vanilla, moderate floral and fruity hops and a touch of caramel. The finish was long with cocoa and floral hops. Moderately full bodied. Decent.

Bomber. Pours dark brown with a tan head. Average IPA with good hop aroma and taste but nothing spectacular here.

Pours a dark clear brown with garnet highlights that throws up a tall, sticky tan head. Roast malt aromas and muted hops. Roast malt and some hops in the flavor. Sort of what you might get if you blended a light stout with a medium IPA. Good body and no off flavors but this one starts up and doesn’t go any where. Still trying to figure out what this style should be.

This beer is getting lost in the shuffle of the ’black IPA’. Very malty and not as hoppy. No real indentity, It feels like a hoppy stout that misses on the hoppy part. Good, but not what I was looking for.

Bomber poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of roastiness, earthiness, skunk bud, grapefruit and pine. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roastines, earthiness, light grapefruit and a hint of pine with a smooth moderatly bitter lingering roasty finish.

My Bottom Line :
Black grapes, earth and toasted cereals are met by sustained leafy hop bitterness in this slender Black IPA.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A frothy sheet of foam covers the dark brown.
-Wooden hop resins harbor cologne-like impressions.
-Roastiness is also present throughout.
-A strange phenolic touch (rubber eraser?) roams by once in a while.
-All flavors are nicely levelled.
-That is one ugly label...

bottle... dark brown bordering on black, huge medium tan head, great retention and lace, great looking... subtle but very pleasant aroma, light roasted chocolate, a little pine on the back... the taste isn’t as balanced or rounded, harsh alcohol, more charred than roast, needs a bit of more malt, the chocolate is gone... great start but turned out average

From tap at the brewpub. Pours dark brown to almost black with a creamy, tan and lasting head. Aroma is roasted malty and light hops fruity. Bitter, fruity and roasted malty. Light breadish and roasted. Ends dry, bitter and dark malty.
